Many younger performers are compared to the legendary Christy Canyon, but there are none that could replace her and her bountiful assets that helped put her name on the radar in the adult film industry. Born in Pasadena, California, the brown-eyed, brown-haired beauty entered the adult industry in 1984, and she's been successful ever since.

Like many successful people, Christy's fame didn't come easily. She ran away from home when she was 17 because of troubles at home with her parents and their divorce. She found herself working in retail when she was approached to model for a magazine layout. Christy was only 18, and she didn't realize that the modeling she was going to do would be explicit. Although nervous at first, Christy went through with the photo shoot. Soon enough, she had worked her way up into the adult film industry and was making more money than she had in retail.

Christy's first foray into the adult industry did not last long though. At 19, she was burnt out from working long hours, and she was in a relationship with a man who didn't like seeing her in the adult world. While she was no longer in front of the camera, her films were still being released, and Christy eventually came out of retirement in 1989 to begin starring in adult films again.

Her second stint in the adult industry was much different from her first stint. She started working for Vivid Entertainment as a contract girl, and she was also enrolled in a fashion design school. She completed her degree in merchandise marketing in 1991, and in the mid-nineties, she left the adult industry again. But she couldn't stay away for long! She came back for one last run in adult films, but she left again in 1996. Christy spent a few years on the dancing circuits where she was often a feature dancer in the clubs she performed in, but in 2001, she retired from that as well.

With over 200 adult films underneath her acting belt, along with several awards and membership in both the XRCO and AVN Halls of Fame, Christy has retired from performing in adult movies and the dancing circuits, but she still remains active in the adult industry. In 2003, Christy released her autobiography, Lights, Camera, Sex!, and a few years later, she was a judge on Jenna Jameson's series Jenna's American Sex Star.

Nowadays, Christy Canyon entertains the airwaves as a host on Playboy Radio's Night Calls. Although she may not be performing in adult films anymore, Christy Canyon holds a special and memorable place in the hearts of all of her fans.
