Tera Patrick
About Tera Patrick
- Height: 5 ft. 9 in.
- Weight: 120
- Measurements: 36DD+ - 24" - 34"
- Eyes: Brown Eyes
- From: Great Falls, Montana
- Born: July 25
- Zodiac Sign: Leo
Born in Great Falls, Montana, to an American Army doctor father of English and Dutch descent and a pure Thai Mother, Tera moved around quite a bit as a child both in the U.S. and overseas, gaining a valuable, early understanding of different peoples and cultures. At the tender age of 13, she was spotted by a scout on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco and immediately enrolled in the venerable Barbizon Modeling School. Soon after, Tera signed with Morning Sun, an international division of the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency. An overnight success in both print and runway, she spent several years as a working model in Japan and Europe.
Upon returning to the U.S. after immense success overseas, Tera felt compelled to give something back and removed her high heels long enough to enroll in Boise State University where she received an undergraduate degree in Biology. Finding helping others truly fulfilling, Tera pursued a career in medicine by achieving a degree as an emergency medical technician from the American Institute of Health Technology. She landed a job as a nurse, the sexiest girl in white her hospital had ever seen.
Even though Tera genuinely enjoyed nursing, her family, friends and co-workers, convinced her to get back into modeling. She soon found herself at an open audition for Playboy and was selected from among a thousand ambitious and gorgeous ladies for both the magazine and Playboy TV. In the blink of an eye, Tera Patrick was gracing the covers of virtually every important men's publication including Hustler, Club, Swank, Velvet, High Society and Cheri. She remains the only woman to ever grace the covers of Playboy and Penthouse simultaneously, and she still holds the laudable position of Publisher, Genesis Magazine as well as Sex Editor for the UK edition of FHM. And to this day, she is the only erotic performer to appear on the cover of the domestic FHM.
A hopeless exhibitionist, Tera further explored her sensuous side and in late 1999, stepped onto the big and small screens, accepting roles in various nude and soft core features like The Seduction of Maxine and other 'skin-a-max' soft-core flicks. Then, in 2000, she appeared in her first hardcore adult feature Aroused, directed by adult visionary Andrew Blake. Since then, her XXX-star has risen faster than any performer in recent history. And her naughty notoriety spread as the co-host of Playboy Night Calls, 411.

Interview With Tera Patrick - May 5, 2004
Phone Interview
PornstarEmpire.com: A lot of your fans who may only follow your career through your movie releases are probably curious as to what you've been up to in the past year or so. It's been over a year since your last movie came out...what have you been up to...and why did you choose Vivid as your new home?
Tera Patrick: Well, actually it's my first release in two years. And Vivid is just the best company out there. My company, TeraVision...they welcomed my company into their company and it was just kind of a natural progression for me to just go with Vivid. They have the best girls and the best movies and they're the best company, so when I wanted to find a home for TeraVision, they had their doors wide open. So that was one reason why I definitely chose to go with them.
Q: Also since the last time we talked, you got married. So, can you tell us a little about how you and Evan met, and what was it about him that drew you to him?
Tera Patrick: Well, we actually got married January 9th in Las Vegas, at the last CES show. And how we met is kind of interesting...I actually saw him on an episode of Oz (HBO's prison drama) that another guy I happened to be dating was actually watching. And he just caught my eye and he stuck in my head, but I didn't know what his name was. And I asked around to a bunch of my friends, "Do you guys watch the show Oz? There's this guy on there that's all tattooed..." And they said "Yeah, that guy's name is Evan Seinfeld and he's in a band called Biohazard", but nobody knew him, really. So it turns out we had a mutual friend who was a photographer who actually tried to set me up on a date with him three years ago. So she introduced us by phone, and I think the first thing that struck me about him that made me want to get to know him more was his honesty. He was just such an honest, real person. And that's really hard to find in the entertainment business in general. And it's really hard to date in the entertainment business - because we're all busy, and we're running from schedule to schedule, and show to show. We actually talked on the phone for three months before we met. We met on September 4th of 2002, and we just fell in love right then and there. We got engaged on Halloween of 2002, and things just progressed from there.
Q: I do want to talk a little bit about the movie coming out with Vivid - Tera! Tera! Tera!. You've worked with women in the past, but this movie will really mark your first full-blown girl/girl scene. I know you've mentioned in the past that you really weren't into girls. What changed your mind for this movie?
Tera Patrick: Well, it's not like I'm "into" girls all of the sudden, you know - like "now I've fallen in love with women and I want to be with women." It's just that this is my job. You know what I mean? Because I'm making movies now only exclusively with my husband, so I kind of had to stir the pot up a little bit and think of some new avenues to keep my fans interested. So it was kind of a natural progression... "What am I going to do?" "Oh! Girl/Girl!" The first girl that I chose to work with was Savanna (Samson) from Vivid, and one of the reasons why I chose to work with her was because I knew that she was really experienced. Actually the first two girls I chose to work with were her and Felecia - and both of them were really experienced in working with women, and because I haven't really been with a lot of women in my private life, I thought "Oh, what better way to get introduced to women, than by two women who really know how to have sex with women." So that's kind of how it went. And I enjoy doing girl/girl - I mean I still prefer men to women, but I'm having fun doing girl/girl. Girls are great, and the one thing I like about it - if I can say something about it that I like better than men - is that women are so much more gentle. Women are much gentler creatures. At least after having sex with a girl all day, I don't go home and feel like "Oh my god!" I mean, after working with my husband all day, it's like "Whoa! Okay!" - you're just so much more tired. Not that working with a girl isn't work, but it's a lot less tiring than working with a guy.
Q: I know you also have a scene with Evan in your new movie. This is the first time you guys have been together in front of the cameras. Was there a different vibe performing for the camera than there is when the two of you are together in your personal life?
Tera Patrick: Well, you just have to be really careful with what you can shoot on film these days. I know Vivid's a little more...I don't want to say they're a "tame" company...but they are kind of conservative and they go by the rules. They tend not to shoot things that they know are going to get them in trouble later. The first day that Evan and I were on the set, with Chi Chi LaRue (the director), Chi Chi was like "Okay - so what are you guys going to do? Let's talk about the scene." And we were like "Can he slap me?" "Can he choke me?" "Can he rough me up?" And he was like "No, no, no!" Because that's kind of like how we have sex in our personal life...I would say that our personal life is definitely a lot rougher. Not that we do that every night...I mean, we make love too. But the vibe on the set...it was Evan's first time, and he really wanted to do a really, really good job. He kind of felt like, "Well, you're my wife and these are all your fans, and everyone's dying to see this movie so I don't want to let you down." And we had really good fun...we had fun with it. I told him myself, I said "Listen, this is not brain surgery." I knew he wasn't going to have a problem working with me per se, but he just wanted the movie to be really great. He kind of wanted to delve a little bit into what we do personally, but we weren't really allowed to - so we made it as hardcore as we could and as risqué as we could, without getting into too much trouble.
Q: Also since the last time we've seen you in a movie, you've had some breast augmentation done. Was this something you did to enhance your appeal in your career, or was it a personal choice?
Tera Patrick: Well, the thing of it is - no matter what I do, my fans are still going to love me. If anything, the vibe that I've gotten from them has just been positive. Like everyone's saying "Oh, she was a natural girl." Well, I'm still a natural girl. Just because breast implants doesn't make you an "unnatural girl", it just makes you a girl that has breast implants. I got implants actually because I had lost some weight. I don't know if you followed by movies, but you can tell definitely in this movie that I'm a lot thinner. And over the last two years, I've gotten a lot thinner than I was when I first started - and I lost all by breasts...I had no breasts left. So I got breast implants because I wanted back my 36Ds, but I still am skinny because I work out now. So, it was more or less for that - because I just wanted to have my boobs, and I wanted to be a skinny girl - and as anybody knows, your breasts are body fat and the lower the body fat you have, the less breasts you are going to have. I wanted to have boobs again, so that's why I got them. Honestly, if I wouldn't have said anything to anybody, nobody even would have been able to tell. They look incredible and feel incredible, and I'm feature dancing across the country, so everybody will be able to see me up close and in person. And all the girls and guys are like "Oh my god! You look incredible!" So, it's been really positive.
Q: A lot of the female talent - the more successful female talent - are starting to get more involved in the production end of things...writing, directing, and such. Your fellow Vivid Girl Jenna Jameson is probably a good example of this. Is that why TeraVision was created - kind of the "Club Jenna" model of you and Evan working together so you can have creative control over your movies and what fans see?
Tera Patrick: Oh yeah, absolutely. First of all, there's no money in porn unless you own your own company - I learned that the hard way. The only way you're going to ever make porn worth your while is if you produce your own movies, and star in your own movies, and basically do your own movies. Or you're not going to make any money in the industry. And I thought, I worked three years really hard to get my name up there, and now creatively I think that I wanted to do movies that I could appreciate later on in my life. I don't even acknowledge any Digital Playground movies, and I don't acknowledge a lot of the porn that I've done before. Not because I'm ashamed, but because creatively it isn't sexy...it's just not something that I look at and think "Oh, that's hot." But now what I'm doing is I'm trying to create porn and make movies for the rest of my life that are like "Wow! That's awesome." My movie, Tera! Tera! Tera!, is beautiful. It's a beautiful movie. I'm modeling in there...it's glamorous...it's gorgeous...it's sexy - but it's got hardcore in it. It's beautiful. There's been some scenes that I've done that I looked beautiful in too, but they smack it on a box cover and put "Filthy Whore Cum Guzzling Bitch Tera Patrick" - that's awful! That's completely degrading the good work that I'd done. And I'm not about that anymore. I want to produce and direct my own stuff that I think for the rest of my life is going to be beautiful, and that I am going to be proud of. And Jenna - she's an excellent role model. In fact, what I love the most about Jenna is she kind of kicked down the door and made it possible for other companies. At lot of people look at me now, and they respect me now because I'm doing my own thing. And they respect her because she's doing her own thing...but her and I had to go through hell to get that. So I hope we're making it easier for other female talent to start their own companies and, for god's sake, to make their own money at least. Why make all these other companies all the money? Let's make the money ourselves.
Q: Well, I know you're up against a jammed schedule today - so for my last question, I want to give you the opportunity to tell us a little about your brand-new website (www.officialterapatrick.com) and what fans can expect to find there.
Tera Patrick: It's awesome! It's officialterapatrick.com, and it's actually done by Jenna's company, Club Jenna. She's managing the site for me, and it's great. All the content you see on the site - the galleries, etc. - all my own content. There's tons of new galleries on there, and you won't see them anywhere else. I own about 90 percent of the content on the site, and I've just been traveling the world and shooting all my own content. It's got hardcore, it's got softcore, it's got girl/girl...I've got home videos on there, I've got my regular featured videos - and my fans are loving it. Ever since the site opened in January, not a day's gone by where I haven't had one person join. So, I'm definitely doing something right.

Interview with Tera Patrick - July 6, 2001
Phone Interview
Pornstarempire.com: First, I would like to thank you for taking time to talk to us this afternoon.
Tera Patrick: You're welcome.
Q: Let's start off with your new film Island Fever. Can you tell us a little bit about how that project came about, and your memories of the shoot?
Tera: Well it came about, basically, I just got told by Digital Playground to get on a plane and go to Hawaii! [laughs] That's usually how it works. The director, Joone, and I...we do what is called "guerilla filmmaking", we take a camera and we go out into the wild, and that's how we make our movies. Then we add really cool digital and special effects...so it was great...that was my first trip to Hawaii, and I actually went with Julia Ann, and we had a blast on the plane. It's a great experience. The people are friendly and the location is really beautiful, and we had a great time. I got bitten and eaten up by bugs...you can see that actually on the DVD...there's a special section, behind the scenes, and there are really funny behind the scenes clips...mine's entitled "bug biting"! It's funny...you get to see all the crazy bloopers and stuff, and then Joone and I did the audio commentary...so it's definitely the best...well, I think the best movie I've done yet is Virtual Sex (with Tera Patrick)...but Island Fever is definitely up there.
Q: You mentioned that you were with Julia Ann on the plane...and Briana Banks is also in the movie...but you don't have any scenes together. Did you get the opportunity to spend time with the other girls?
Tera: Yeah. The crazy thing is...and a lot of people don't know...that at the time Julia Ann was starting her own production company. So she had just bought a digital camera and was using it and learning how to shoot. So, she spent a lot of time...I was like, one of her subjects...we spent a lot of time with her, just shooting exteriors, shooting things of me, shooting some funny behind the scenes stuff...so she and I really got into the whole director thing...I was the assistant director actually...we had a lot of fun. Briana's scenes were really beautiful too. I think she had a little bit worse weather days than we did though. We had warm weather and hers was overcast...but she didn't have to suffer in the cold waterfall like Julia Ann and I did!
Q: You worked with both Devin Wolf and Bobby Vitale in this movie. Was this your first time with either of these guys?
Tera: Yes, it was! And that was kind of nerve racking, because when you go into a movie knowing that you've already worked with them, you kind of get a little comfortable. It was my first time with them, and you never know how people are going to be on location...and they both turned out to be really cool. Devin and I had a great time. We got the easy nights...we got to just hang out and lounge, and have dinner and talk to the surfers...and Bobby and I...we got our car stuck on the beach in the dirt, because the tide came up really high, so we had to spend the night in this cheap motel room waiting to get our car towed out of the sand. It was crazy...it was like one big adventure.
Q: Let's talk a little about Joone. He also directed you in Virtual Sex With Tera Patrick. What kind of director is he, and is there a difference in his directorial style between an indoor shoot like Virtual Sex and an outdoor one like Island Fever?
Tera: Well the difference with Virtual Sex is I don't really like to consider it a movie. Because it's not shot the same way as a movie...I mean he's a really good director in the sense that he never put any pressure on me, he's very confident in his work and I'm very confident in my work. So when you put two people together that creatively are at the top of what they both do, you're going to have great chemistry and you're just going to make great movies together. So I knew that walking in with him and walking in with Digital Playground, and that's why I feel like my performances are so good...because I'm completely comfortable with what I do.
Q: Does he give the actors and actresses an opportunity for input as far as the way the scene is filmed?
Tera: Two hundred percent. I've never done anything that I wouldn't have wanted to do. And that was the whole thing with Virtual Sex. You have to focus a lot on the technicality...that it's an interactive DVD, and there's a lot of angles you have to cover...there's just a lot more work that goes in to it as, let's say, a movie with a sex scene. Because a sex scene...the worst is to be directed, to be told where you have to put yourself, where you have to look, where you have to be. I think that Joone just likes to shoot hot sex. I just think that that's why he gives you, or the performer, the whole option of being completely free and uninhibited. I think that's why I like working with him so much, because he never puts any limits on anything that I could do.
Q: You and Joone also did a commentary track for the Island Fever DVD. Talk about that a little bit and tell us what it's like not only watching yourself on film, but having to comment about it as well.
Tera: I can honestly tell you, I do not watch my movies. And the reason is because, for me, it's the whole experience of making it...those are the memories and things and thoughts that stay inside me. It's a very personal experience for me that I'm sharing with everybody else. So having to watch Island Fever, which I was really impressed with because it was so beautiful, and then having to do the commentary on it...it's like I was telling the whole story...it's just nice to connect with what you're watching, and I think with audio commentary, people can actually put themselves in my position and be where I was at and have the same experience that I did.
Q: You made some comments on the commentary track about a fireman experience you had...I don't want to give too much of that away for fans who have yet to hear the commentary...but you also mentioned fantasies about police officers, men in uniform and the like...is there any chance that you may use some of your future work to explore these fantasies on film?
Tera: Well the funny thing is...the only thing I'll let on about the firemen story is that it is a true story that happened to me in my personal life before I got into the movies. So it gives people some kind of an idea of what I was like and what led me up to the point where I'm at now...I'm not the type of person who believes in living out your fantasies on camera. I don't know...I don't want to say no, because I think if it's something that people want to see...if I get the input and the e-mails and it's something they want to see, then, yeah, it's something that I would consider...I really enjoy all the scenes I've done, and they've been really intimate and they've been one on one. It's kind of hard to be intimate with five guys.
Q: I don't think that there is any argument that you have become one of the most popular, if not the most popular adult star working today...yet you've only done one or two titles per year. To what do your attribute your popularity and success? Do you think it's an issue of always leaving fans wanting more?
Tera: I think that that's definitely a good strategy. I do believe in overkill. I do believe that you can be over-saturated...you get burnt out when you work a lot in this business. When I was "shopping" in the very beginning with the different companies, aside from Digital Playground...the other companies that offered to sign me to a contract...the reason why I took the offer with them (Digital Playground) was because I had a lot more to contribute to a company than just being a pretty face and somebody that could have sex. I think that the public and the people that do watch adult movies and do pay attention to things that happen in the adult industry...I think they're curious about the people in the business, and they want to see us become successful and crossover and do other things as well. So I chose to production-wise slow down, but definitely still expand myself and work. I have my own internet show, The Tera Show. I'm the host of Nightcalls 411 on Playboy TV. I work for 97.1, the local FM talk station here in Los Angeles. I've been able to turn my career into being not just an adult film star, but being on the radio, having my own show and being an entertainer. I think that that's why I've become popular. I think a lot of people are just happy for my success, and I think there's a lot of women out there who are like, "Wow, look at her! She's set a good standard for the business". Not all the girls fall prey to the (adult star) stereotype.
Q: One of the things that fans have mentioned when it comes to your movies is the fact that you have shied away from girl/girl scenes. There was a little bit of foreplay in Andrew Blake's Aroused...
Tera: That was the very first movie, actually, that I made.
Q: ...And you let Caroline Cage go down on you in Sex Island in a three-way scene with Evan Stone...but you have yet to go "all the way", so to speak, with another woman on-screen. Is this something you don't want to do, or is it a matter of waiting for the right movie...and the right woman?
Tera: Well...I don't want to exclude myself. I would like to say yes to the questions you just asked me, but also I am a very firm believer that my job is to sell myself and sale fantasy. And I don't like to sale a fantasy that isn't real and isn't real to me, and since I've stated many times...I can't deny it...I'm not comfortable having sex with women. I just don't think it would be appropriate for me to market myself that way and sale myself that way to my fans. Because that's just not something that I feel ready for or is necessary at this point. I just don't like to do things that I don't enjoy.
Q: As far as the male talent, who have you worked with that you really enjoyed...and are there any guys you haven't worked with yet that you'd like to?
Tera: I can honestly say that every guy that I've worked with in the business...(has) treated me wonderfully. I (haven't had) any bad experiences or anything nasty to say about anybody...everybody, even the girls that I've met on movie sets...I've met a lot of lovely people. Men (that I've enjoyed working with): Randy West...I really enjoyed working with him, and he's become a good friend. And the other one would have to be Nacho Vidal, he's a Spanish performer...a very, very good guy. I think the hottest scene I ever had was with T.T. Boy. And that was in one of his Asian Hooker movies [Editor's Note: I believe Tera is referring to Asian Street Hookers 6]. He's a great guy...I really liked him...he's kind of the type of guy I would date in my personal life, he's a good looking guy, he's very rough...he likes rough sex. There was a lot of chemistry between us and we had a really hot scene. As far as guys that I'd like to work with, definitely Rocco Siffredi. I think he's definitely my kind of guy. He's very rough...a sweet guy, very handsome. I like my men very rough on the outside and with a good heart. He's a lovely guy, and I love his wife. And I worked with some very hot Hungarian guys in my new movie that's coming out in September called Forbidden Tales...and that's actually the best one I've done so far...that one was really hot, I got to work with a lot of hot Hungarian guys...who didn't speak a word of English, so it was kind of nice for a change...because, you know, I talk so much!
Q: I was going to ask you at the end of the interview about your new projects, but since you brought it up...what can you tell us about your new movie coming out?
Tera: Forbidden Tales?
Q: Yes.
Tera: I don't want to label it as a period piece...it was shot in Budapest. So the exteriors, like Island Fever, are going to be really beautiful. But you know what was really good for me? Budapest is a very romantic city, but a very mysterious city. It's kind of like a mystery porn...I got to play so many different types...there were so many different moods to the shoot, other than the fact that it was 30 degrees and I was freezing! The men were beautiful, the women were beautiful, the city was beautiful...it's kind of a carnivorous movie, I would have to say.
Q: Was this your first trip to Budapest?
Tera: No, I've been there many times actually. I used to live there. I had a Hungarian boyfriend for a couple of years.
Q: If we can jump back to our discussion of Island Fever for a second, this is basically an all-sex film, meaning aside from the normal kind of talk that goes on during the sex, there's no dialogue. I've noticed in many of your past movies the roles that you have played haven't had a lot of character development. Is taking on a role in a movie with a well-written character something you are interested in pursuing?
Tera: Well, I need to go back to what I said about the choices I made earlier, before I signed with Digital. I did what they call "gonzo" movies, quite frankly only because I didn't wish at the time, like you said, to have a big feature film that revolved around me. I just wanted to go there for a few hours and shoot sex and leave, because, to me, making a movie in this business is a very personal thing. To me, it wasn't making a movie, it was living out my fantasy and having sex. So, I wasn't really a big fan of the dialogue-driven movies, because it kind of became too real for me. So that's why I really like shooting with Joone, because we shoot what the customers want to see...we shoot sex.
Q: You mentioned earlier that you don't like watching yourself on screen. So can I assume that you are turned on more by watching two other actors perform a scene than watching a scene with you and another guy?
Tera: Actually, you know the reason why I can't watch my movies? It isn't so much that I don't want to see myself. Aside from the fact that I'm a model, and I'm very critical of myself...I cannot stand to hear what I sound like when I'm having sex! I don't want my best friend to be watching my movies...I can't believe you have been watching my movies! You guys have to review my movies...I get freaked out when I have to talk to you guys...in the back of my mind I'm always thinking, eewww...they know what I look like...eewww...they know what I said! It drives me crazy sometimes! When the fans come up to me...I've had fans come up to me and repeat things that I've said, and it makes me blush! Sam [Phillips] and I were eating at this Chinese restaurant, and the waiter came over and went "Sam Phillips from Sexcetera! Tera Patrick from Nightcalls 411! Hey, so how are those five firemen?!" I just prefer to keep it a fantasy...like I said, when I shoot a movie I have the memories of what it was like. It's such an experience...that's why I don't like watching myself, it's too much of a reality for me.
Q: Let's talk about The Tera Show. For our customers who may be unfamiliar with what it is...can you tell us a little about what it is and how it got started?
Tera: Well, TeraShow.com, that's my interactive live webshow, that I do the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. I'm broadcasted on many, many websites...Penthouse.com, Hustler.com, a lot of the companies I've been affiliated with over the years [Editor's Note: And, of course, you can see The Tera Show right here at Adult DVD Empire!]. The idea came about with my publicist...they wanted, because I don't feature dance...I only do a minimum number of appearances a year, unlike a lot of the other adult film stars...there was really no way, aside from the conventions and promotions, for me to interact with the fans. So we thought, why don't I do a live webshow every week where the fans can e-mail me, I can talk to them, and I can bring on people in the business that other fans want to know about, and that they want to talk to, and that they want to sit down and spend an hour and a half of their Tuesday evening with. So it's me bringing myself and the business to the fans in their homes and the privacy of their computers.
Q: Is there anyone that hasn't been on the show yet that your dying to get as a guest?
Tera: Oh, absolutely. I would love to interview Marilyn Chambers. Sam Phillips has interviewed her for Sexcetera. She's an amazing woman whose been in the business many years. Sharon Mitchell is another great one I'd love to interview. She's another legend in the business who started AIM Health Care, with the AIDS testing and STD testing in the adult business. Ron Jeremy's been a great guest, as far as guests that I've had...he's a great guest, Keisha's (been a great guest)...but I find I enjoy interviewing the "legends" of the business, because they've spent so much time in the business, and they've seen how the business has evolved over the years, so I'm like the new kid on the block, and it's just really cool to hear their stories and to hear what a lot of people went through all these years. It's just great...I love that. I've interviewed a lot of great people on the show...everyone from journalists to musicians to people in the adult business to writers...I've had a blast and I have a blast...I cannot stop talking, so of course they had to do a webshow with me...what else are they going to do?! And then Nightcalls 411 on Playboy TV, is my live, phone-in sex talk show...so I'm always talking...I figured I'd make a living off of my big mouth!
Q: When you give interviews, do you feel more like a fan than you do a co-worker involved in the same industry?
Tera: The interesting thing about me interviewing my guests on The Tera Show is that in the very beginning...I would say my first ten shows...I did them very standardized. I really did a talk show format, where I would be kind of clinical with them. And I think that's the part of me that is a nurse. I wasn't very relaxed...you're right, I was a fan and I wanted to know about these people. And now, because I've gotten so comfortable with all my co-workers...just meeting them at different events and getting to know them...the show's been a great way for me to get to know them...and now I'm much more relaxed and I can chat with them more like a friend. I don't think they feel as threatened if you come at them that way...I think in the beginning, after watching some of my shows and seeing how formal I was, it made me realize that these people have a lot in common with me...you find that you have something in common with everybody that you work with.
Q: I know a lot of fans have been wondering what your future plans as far as the adult industry goes, and do you have any plans for retirement at any point? Do you have any goals within the industry that you still want to meet?
Tera: Well, I think I would like to start off by saying that I would have never imagined that when I walked in the door June 4th, 1999, that I would have stayed in the business, for one. I just thought it was a phase that I was going through and I was going to get out...but now that Digital Playground has come in my life, I've found a way to make the business emotionally rewarding and financially rewarding. I have a nursing degree to fall back on...I definitely am going to be around for a few more years...I've been investing my money and I'd just like to continue doing what I'm doing. I love the fact that I'm with the best company in the business. I do think that God smiles on me every day, and I think that people still want to see me around for a couple years. I've got a toy line that's coming out...I'd love to continue The Tera Show until I can't interview pornstars anymore...I'd like to keep my relationship with Playboy TV...I'm up for Penthouse Pet of the Year, so I'd like to continue my relationship with Penthouse...I have a great relationship with you guys at DVD Empire, thank you so much, you guys give me great publicity. I'm going to work until my body falls apart, and then I'm going to go and be a nurse...maybe I'll be your nurse, Shannon.
Q: That would be fantastic!
Tera: I definitely see myself settling down, having a family...going back to nursing, and at least reaping the rewards...the financial rewards...of being in the business for a lot of years to come.
Q: Do you have an official website now? Where can fans contact you?
Tera: It's www.terapatrick.com.
Q: I always give those I interview a chance to pass on a special message they may have to their fans and supporters...what message would you like to send?
Tera: Well, just thank you so much Adult DVD Empire and thank you to all of my fans...if I could thank them individually, I would. Thank you so much for supporting me and for continuing to watch my movies...for making my show a big success and I love you all.
Q: Finally, I understand you have a birthday coming up on July 25th?
Tera: Yes! I will be 25 on the 25th!
Q: Well, on behalf of all of us here at Adult DVD Empire, I'd like to wish you a very happy birthday.
Tera: Thank you!
Interview with Tera Patrick - January 8, 2001
Adult Entertainment Expo 2001 in Las Vegas NV
Pornstarempire.com: [On the basis of your last interview with us] why do you think your parents have been able to handle what you do for a living?
Tera: Actually the conversation...was last year at Christmas. I was like "Dad, I'm in the business," and he actually already knew. He had an idea because...
I started out doing nude modeling and I started out doing softcore, so it was kind of a [slow] transition. It was something that he kind of expected.
Q: How did you make the transition from nursing to adult? That's kind of a big stretch.
Tera: Aren't all nurses porn stars? ...It's really funny because I've heard that there actually are a lot of nurses who do this. I was a model before I was a nurse--
I was a fashion model for many years, so basically...I left nursing to pursue another career in modeling. Hardcore kinda came after.
Q: Do you miss science?
Tera: Absolutely. I'm gonna stick with Digital Playground till my contract is up and then I wanna go back to the University of Southern California and get my master's....
Q: I love the concept of virtual sex and I want to ask you if it's harder than shooting a feature. I thought in "Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick", it might be
difficult to be so uninhibited with all that improv.
Tera: "Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick" was my favorite project because it was all me. I know that sounds...."I have to be me!" No. [Laughs]. Improv comes very naturally to me.
I do my own show, the terashow.com...none of it's scripted. And all my life, most of the acting I'd done was unscripted.... The virtual sex was...harder for me to shoot because
the technology was so different. They were shooting multi-angle with different cameras, so I had to do different positions. Technically, it was harder.
Q: Do they tell you what to say or do they just say, "Go at it"?
Tera: "Go at it!" Everything that than fans see is real, it's 100 percent unscripted. I'd really like to do another "Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick" cause I enjoyed it so much.
Q: Would you prefer doing a feature?
Tera: Oh, honey, when I got in the business, I did probably 11 movies and nine of them were Gonzo. They were just...sex. I did not like features. I had no desire to be an actress....
I just wanted to get in there and have sex and get paid and leave.
Q: Beautiful. Why do you have so many different aliases?
Tera: I don't know. I do know that a lot of the companies, because I'm not in production with them anymore, I'm exclusive with Digital Playground, I know that they've "comped" a lot of my scenes--
which is something that the fans should know. A lot of the videos that they're buying with me in them are not current scenes that I've shot...they're scenes from old movies that they're basically cutting
up and putting in other movies.... But I always have been "Tera Patrick" and I always will be "Tera Patrick".
Q: A little bird told me that you're not particularly bisexual, like you could deal with receiving, but not necessarily that into it. How do you feel about having sex with women?
Tera: Well, I don't like to say that I could "deal with receiving". I'm absolutely not repulsed by women; I'm not sexually attracted to women--there's a difference. I love men. I love making love to men,
and in my personal life, I've never been bisexual, and I have no desire to be bisexual. I do like beautiful women like everybody else.
Q: So some of the touching is pleasurable to you?
Tera: I wouldn't say it's pleasurable. I mean, I've worked with women before, in a softcore environment, and it didn't bother me, but there's no real attraction there.
Q: Do you feature dance?
Tera: ...Honey, if I were to get up there and dance, I would get no tips.... I'm a great dancer, but not a good stripper.... I could strip at home in private. If I were to dance, I'd probably get stage fright.
I prefer to do the signings, The Tera Show. ...I wouldn't have time to dance if I wanted to.
Q: I read in your bio that pornography was always a fantasy for you. What age did this come into your head and why?
Tera: ...To be really honest with you, I'm not really a fan of porno. ...It was definitely something I had fantasized about, like being in a movie, being in a porno movie. I just never thought that it would get this big.
I hadn't even seen a porno till I was like 18, and I just remember the guy...in it was Tom Byron, and I was like, "He's hot!" ...And to this day I've never worked with Tom. God bless you, Tom. But he's a nice guy and I'd really
like to work with him if my contract and his contract permits....
Q: What the latest thing that you filmed?
Tera: My latest movie is called "Island Fever" and it was shot in Maui, Hawaii...from Digital Playground...to be released in late January, early February. And were really proud of it--it's beautiful work. I'm so happy to be with
them now. In retrospect, it was guerilla filmmaking, but it's worth it.
Q: So did you have to do a lot a lot of acting?
Tera: No, no, they're vignettes. No, I love acting--I just don't think porno and acting--I think that's an oxymoron. I'm sorry, I've never seen a porno with good acting, but if DVD Empire wants to recommend me one....
Q: How do you feel about being in Vegas?
Tera: I'm having a blast. I love doing the trade shows. I love to meet the fans.... I make so many friends on the road, doing all the conventions. So it's been great.
Q: Do you feel, socially, the climate within the porn industry is cool, or is it annoying? What would your comments be about the porn community and when they all get together?
Tera: You know, I'm very fortunate. I'm with the best company in the business. I'm the luckiest girl here. I have had a wonderful experience with everybody in my short time in the business. Maybe that's why.
I'll get out when they start getting mean! [Laughs].
Q: I was going to ask you about you favorite guys to work with.
Tera: My favorite guy is Nacho Vidal. Randy West and I had a couple of memorable scenes together. He kind of--not really walked me through it, but he was just one of those guys...that I first worked with who was
just really kind to me. He was just very kind and very patient.
Q: Do you want to say anything about future projects?
Tera: Well, my website's gonna be launched in a couple weeks:...terapatrick.com. Just check out the website and The Tera Show. I really have so many things coming up. My next movie will be shot in Prague,
in the Czech Republic. Just keep watching, and thanks for all the support.
