Inari Vachs' Porn Star Biography
Prior To Porn
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Inari Vachs made her porn debut in 1997 when she was 23 years old. Prior to a career in porn, Vachs worked as a sales associate at a life insurance company. Bored with her job, Vachs moved to California looking for adventure. When I moved to Southern Cali I wanted to do something a little different. Previously I'd worked in corporate establishments in a few different industries, from insurance/investments to reprographics. I've been a fan of the industry for years and thought, what a fun experience this could be! So, I found an agent and thought I'd try a pictorial. They asked if I'd shoot a video. After a moment of thought, I decided it would definitely be an interesting experience, and if I didn't like it, I never had to do it again. Well... here I am, 6 years later! I am very happy with where I am today."
Early Career
Her first shoot was an anal scene with the infamous Max Hardcore. She went on to perform in nearly 500 films for various production companies, including Mile High, Vivid, Wicked Pictures, Deviant Mindz, and many more. Movies like Action Sports Sex 1 (Vivid), Bunghole Harlots 2 (Arch Angel), Filthy Attitudes 2 (Elegant Angel), and a solo performance in I Touch Myself 2 (Fallen Angel) are examples of her first few years in the industry. Vachs signed an exclusive contract with XXXGeneration Video in 2000 and became a music reporter for XXXGeneration Magazine.
Hiatus and Comeback
2002 was the beginning of an 8 year hiatus from performing on camera for Vachs. Instead, she focused on the creation of a new production company, IV Multimedia, which she co-owns with Justin Gulley. Vachs also had a child during her hiatus from performing, and in 2005 she began co-hosting Playboy TV's Naughty Amateur Home Videos. But in 2010, she stepped back in front of the camera for a starring role in Harder by skinworXXX. Regarding her return to porn, Vachs said, "Porn is so much more widely accepted now than it was [in 2002]. The hardest part of doing porn was how society viewed you. It made it tough sometimes, but now it's different. My mom didn't even know I did porn until I stopped performing, but now, I called her today and told her what I was doing." Notable films for Vachs following her return include Anal Overdose 2 (Evil Angel), Asses to Asses (Brazzers Network), Girls Get Busted (Zero Tolerance), and Sloppy Head 4 (Evil Angel).
A Pleased Porn Star
Vachs has had a long and successful career in porn, both in front of and behind the camera. Regarding how her career in porn has changed her life, Vachs replied, "I am most grateful at the opportunities being in this industry has offered. I've visited other countries, met wonderful people (yes, some celebs too!), learned a wealth of information, and am able to own a successful corporation. I feel very fortunate and proud for what I.V. Multimedia is accomplishing. My partner, Justin Gulley, is definitely the creative that drives us into the new for quality entertainment. I'm a very lucky girl!" When she's not busy performing or running her production company, Vachs enjoys numerous outdoor activities, including hiking, rock climbing and snowboarding. She also loves animals and has 2 pits bulls, numerous reptiles, and a bengal kitten.

Interview with Inari Vachs - June 30, 2001
On the Set Of "Euphoria" in Los Angeles, CA
Pornstarempire.com: I'm sitting down with Inari Vachs. Hi Inari.
Inari Vachs: Hi!
Q: So Inari, how long have you been in the business?
Inari: 4 years this year.
Q: What was the first movie you ever made?
Inari: The first movie I made was for Max Hardcore. It was extremely interesting and a lot of fun.
Q: Was it an anal?
Inari: Yes.
Q: And had you done anal before?
Inari: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I wouldn't do anything on camera that I didn't do in my personal life, that's my theory.
Q: How did you find working with Max? Was it okay?
Inari: Absolutely. I watched porn way before I got into the business anyway. So I already knew what kind of stuff he does. He does fetish stuff. Most of people look at his work and think it's hardcore porn, but it's not, it's really just fetish stuff. What he does is a fetish fantasy. And so with that in mind, I did it and it was a lot of fun.
Q: So do you like fetish?
Inari: Yeah. I'm not one of the type of people that get turned on by the same thing all the time. For me, it's all about circumstance and situations. So, sometimes I like more stuff than others. I like bondage, I like leather, I like vinyl, I like latex. I like everything. I like being tied up, I like being tied down, I like being top, I like being bottom [laughing].
Q: So, you said that you liked watching porn before you got into the business. Would you say you were a porn fan?
Inari: A pornophile. I watched hundreds and hundreds of porn before I even thought about getting into the business.
Q: So, what kind of porn did you watch?
Inari: A lot of European stuff. But everything from...but I never really got into the all girl movies. But I watched everything from gonzo, to wall to wall, to big features like Andrew Blake.
Q: Was there anything particularly that you liked better than others?
Inari: Umm...good sex was most important, umm...you could of bagged on the continuity and every now and again, but I like it when you have two good talent or all that sex that brings it all together. I would notice when the lighting was good and other technical attributes that were important and make a big difference.
Q: Do you have a favorite porn or performer to watch?
Inari: You know, once again it's hard because sex is so abstract. You know, it's hard to say one thing is better than the other because it's so personalized. I mean, I really enjoyed watching Jeanna Fine and Heather Hunter and a lot of other people. For me it's a mood thing since sometimes I like to watch features and sometimes I like to watch gonzo, so I can't say I like one over the other because they're all different.
Q: When was the first time you think you've seen a porno?
Inari: Oh, from the beginning? They were always around, from junior high, they were in the background of the parties, I didn't really start renting them until I moved out when I was 27, but, no, 16...I don't really know.
Q: When did you discover your sexuality?
Inari: I don't ever remember not masturbating. So I was always extremely sexual. I was 16 when I did it for the first time, but I've made out with guys or whatever. I always extremely sexual, it was part of my personality.
Q: Did you do women before you got into porn?
Inari: Absolutely. I tried anal before too.
Q: So do you still do these things now and enjoy them, or do you think you've become jaded?
Inari: I think that with any industry you get into you can become jaded by what it is that you're doing. Has it effected my sex life at home? No, I really like it a lot. And do I get jaded with this business and who I work with and with the situation? Yeah, certainly the excitement of having sex on camera isn't the same as it was the first year, but of course I still like it a lot but it's gotten familiar so you don't have the same intensity. I guess it has effected my life at home in the sense that I like my sex life at home to be more private now, where before I was a porn star, adult film star without even thinking about it. Now I like it more privately.
Q: You said that being in porn has effected you life a little. Has it effected your dating life?
Inari: No, I've been with the same man for 11 years, so no. Nothing has affected my relationship at home.
Q: How does he feel about you getting into this business?
Inari: Extremely supportive. He's perfectly fine with it from the first time I ever brought it up. He's extremely patient with me, no matter how patient I have to be with him [smiling]. He's been wonderful.
Q: So what brought you into the business?
Inari: You know, now that I'm in it, I could look back to growing up and thinking that this was an obvious thing, this is what I was supposed to do. But upon getting into it? It was a spur of the moment thing. I lived across the country a lot and I worked in corporate, I worked as a professional dom and sub for awhile too. And when I moved to LA. I knew I didn't want to work corporate anymore. I knew I didn't want to work under florescent lights, in a little cubicle in a veal-fattening pen. So I signed up for a mainstream modeling agency and a mainstream casting agency but I didn't know the entertainment racket out here; I was more familiar with the music industry because my in-laws are involved in the music business. So I really knew that part of the entertainment industry better and I really didn't know anyone out here. I didn't feel comfortable with the people I was meeting out here, so I didn't really pursue that. Then I thought I would do something wild and crazy so I said, I want to do a nudie spread, what do you think? So he said "I don't care, go ahead". So I went into World Modeling and said that I want to do nude photos and he said, "well, will you do video?" and I said sure. I thought that if I didn't like it I never had to do it again, so I did it for the fun of it and I thought...wow! This is really a lot of fun and that it was a pretty good business opportunity for any kind of woman that could run with it. So whatever, we'll see what happens, I really didn't have any real outline plan or anything, I would just do it until it wasn't any fun anymore or until I decided if I wanted to go back to school or whatever else I planned on doing with my life. Then it just kept getting better and I started winning awards. And that was unforeseen and I never thought I would win any awards, I was just looking for something interesting to do. So I started winning awards and getting notoriety and I guess I really don't know how big my fan base is. People will tell me, "wow, you're so big here, and you're so big there, and..." I don't know, I really don't pay attention to that stuff because I didn't do it for fame. You know, I did it for more selfish reasons [laughing]. Well, umm...I'm sorry, I'm digressing and I'm starving. [laughing]! I'm ranting because my sugar is low from not eating and I'm rambling about stupid stuff. So, so getting into this, umm, umm...
Q: I'll get you out of this.
Inari: Please, I really need help [laughing]!
Q: Okay, so are you married?
Inari: Uh hmm.
Q: And do you and your husband watch your movies?
Inari: Yeah. We used to a lot more in the beginning because we would do a lot of critiquing, but he really enjoys watching my porno. I think he watches it a lot more when I'm out of town...he really enjoys it then. But we kind of decided that they were kind of like our memoirs for when we're old, when we're in the retirement home when we're 85. And we'll be like "babe, remember when you did that?" And he'll be like, "yeah, you looked great!" It's the best home movie we could ever have.
Q: So, you're 26, any children?
Inari: No.
Q: Do you want to have children?
Inari: I really haven't...Do I want to be a mother? Yes. I have a lot of experience with children, I have a pretty big family, so I look forward...wait, let me rephrase that. Motherhood is something that biologically my body needs to go through. I'm really in touch with my body and everything that it goes through all the time. So I think I need to go through that, but the dilemma that I have is: Do I feel that this world is good enough and do I think that where we're going as a species is...is it good enough to raise a child? I don't know. Do I want to raise a child in America? I can't answer that. It really depends where I am in the next ten years to decide. I would really love to raise a child. I really want to have children and to adopt them too. I don't know, I have dogs.
Q: It's probably a better world to raise dogs in right now.
Inari: Yeah. We'll see what happens.
Q: Do you have any hobbies? Things that you like to do?
Inari: Yeah. I like to hike, rock climb, mountain bike. I'd like to say that I surf more than I do, but I love being in the water. I'm starting to kayak, that's a lot of fun. I try to stay pretty active.
Q: So most of these things are extreme sports. Are you a bit of a daredevil?
Inari: Yeah. I like things that rattle my cage a little. I used to power-lift, so I try to stay in shape.
Q: What's the wildest thing you've ever done? [the production manager raises his hand]
Inari: He's the wildest thing I ever did! [giggling and shaking her head no]
Q: So?
Inari: What was the craziest thing I ever did? I'll have to get back to you on that. I'm drawing a blank.
Q: Did you go to college?
Inari: Yes I did, I didn't finish it though, but actually the reason why we moved across the country is that we wanted to find a place that we liked to live long enough to go to school. So when we moved to Southern California we found a place that we could live for at least a year and a half that we wouldn't go crazy and so we thought we'd go back to school, but then I got involved with this.
Q: So do you think you're going to be in this industry for a while?
Inari: I think I'll be in this business until the day I die. This is pretty much the only industry that I can wake up in the morning and feel really good about myself and what I do. A lot of women think that I'm crazy when I say that [imitating] "oh my God, you have sex for a living!", but I could be a business woman, I could be a professional and put all my money away and save for my retirement. And I can feel good about an industry that I know helps millions of people every day. Sex has been around since the beginning of time. People's personality and people's sexuality is one of the most important things that we all have to come to terms with in order to be true to ourselves. Yet, we deny ourselves pleasure all the time, and any true doctor will tell you not to deny your sexuality. A lot of people would come up to me, now and before porn when I was a dom and a sub. I touched a lot of people in their personal lives that they couldn't share and had to hide their true personality from their families and themselves. Because people are so closed minded and so this industry is definitely something I want to stay a part of.
Q: Do you think there are a lot of hypocrites in this industry?
Inari: There are a lot of hypocrites in every industry. The problem with hypocrisy in the sex industry is that people want to be sexy, they want to have sex, we want to be wanted but we feel guilty about it all the time. And the people that make the porno, they really want to make the porno but they're mad at themselves because they don't have the sexual gratification that they want to have and so they judge themselves. From grips to the stylists. They judge themselves, yeah. Hypocrites are everywhere.
Q: What would you say is the best scene you ever did? Your favorite?
Inari: Man...one of my all time favorites? That would have to be...of my gonzo scenes that I shoot, my favorite would have to be my Gangbang Auditions and the gangbang scenes that I did for Anabolic. Those were really fun and the only things I could never accomplish in my personal life because I could never get that many people together [laughing] that I wanted to at home. Umm...the prettiest thing I've ever done would have to be what I did for Andrew Blake and the voiceovers that I did for him. The biggest movie that I ever did that was a lot of fun was for Vivid called Awakening. It was an amazing thing to work on, actually it was theatrically challenging. It was a 96-page script, my character went through 3 different changes in personality and it was a lot of fun for me to do. And the West Side series for Video Team was fun and challenging because I got to use my theatrical training for that too. The Wicked movies have been the most fantasy oriented. The costuming, the design and the locations have been amazing, like Dream Quest which was phenomenal. This one (Euphoria) is going to be one of my all time favorites to work on, I can tell already. The set design is wonderful, the make-up is amazing and I even like the director...that's amazing! [laughing]
Q: Who are your favorite performers to work with?
Inari: My favorite female performer, Sydnee Steele, has been my favorite for a long time. We got in the business at around the same time and I've loved her since we met. She's great to work with, great to act with and together we work off each other really well. We were on the set with each other until 5:00am the other day we were working with each other and trying to keep each other uplifted. So we have good teamwork going. Shay Sweet is another chickie that I love, and Dillion Day...oh, he has food! Dillion Day is eating...he's a guy I like a lot. Umm...goodness, it's really hard to name everybody.
Q: Well I know you're hungry, so I will let you go.
Inari: I would love to talk to you some more.
Q: I'm sure the fans will love that, thank you.
