As a longtime fan (and fairly longtime reviewer) of adult-oriented material (otherwise known as "porn" to those less sophisticated), it's easy to become jaded and even disdainful of the same old low-budget, formulaic fuck flicks which seem to reign over the DVD market. Sure, we get the occasional must-have, big budget flicks from Ninn Worx, Studio A, Wicked, Evil Angel, Vivid or Digital Playground to add to our collection, but typically, it's the same ol' anal-themed, cum-swapping bump and grind manufactured by the studios like so many cheap plastic toys.
Not that I'm necessarily complaining too much, mind you. Admittedly lowbrow affair like MOUTH 2 MOUTH (or any extreme gonzo flick, for that matter) has raised the sheer nastiness level to new heights, and so we get hotter chicks doing stuff undreamed of by even the dirtiest old men of the baby boomer generation. However, while the lewdness has increased, cinematic creativity and artistic intent have remained fairly stagnant.
Then again, when porn gets too artsty-fartsy, the stimulation value can also suffer considerably, which is why I wonder whether directors like Andrew Blake - whose recent work emphasize tease over sex - will ever match up to past masterworks like HIDDEN OBSESSIONS and NIGHT TRIPS. Lucky for us, however, there is director Philip Mond, who has only made a handful of titles in the past ten years (literally, you can count them all using less than five fingers), but knows how to make a damn good movie. His previous masterpiece, ZAZEL, is a 1996 production that remains timeless in its memorable visuals, stunning women, and imaginative sex scenes. And now he returns to dirty movies once again, with INSEXTS, released by Club Jenna. Both the title and the box cover (a costumed woman with huge blue butterfly wings isn't the same as seeing Taylor Rain bent over and ready for action) might be less than appealing to the casual consumer, and indeed, I wasn't too thrilled about either before I popped in the disc. But it was obvious that INSEXTS would provide an experience like no other, though in the end, one has to question whether the journey is truly worth it.
Back in the day when the Dark Bros would dress their performers up in gaudy costumes and deliberately over-the-top outfits (see the first four NEW WAVE HOOKERS movies for a sampling), more conservative viewers such as myself would find the designs amusing, but distracting. To me, high heels, short skirts and a tight top are infinitely more arousing than clown and animal costumes. The fashions in INSEXTS aren't nearly as garish, but some of the looks are just too much for me. Too many of the performers where brightly colored wigs, plastic wings, headgear and helmets, which to me, add little to the action. Still, the cinematography is top-notch, and in the hands of a lesser director, the sexual situations simply wouldn't have worked.
The video boasts "2 hours, 41 minutes of erotica" and indeed, flesh and fantasy run almost without end once the plot is set in motion. Actually, the back box cover gives us a fairly detailed summary of the movie, and I assume such details are given for those of us who don't really care to listen to (overdubbed) dialogue whenever someone isn't fucking or being fucked. But basically, it involves smoking hot brunette Gina Mond (who, like so many of the girls, wears a wig most of the time, but still looks great) trying to convince erotic artist Nick Manning into doing some work for her boss, also played by Gina Mond (!).
In any event, the viewer is treated to some dreamlike, fantasy sequences with performers Alexis Amore, Grant Michaels, Jean Val Jean, Jenaveve Jolie, Tory Lane (always dependable for some wankable action) along with Gina and Nick. The film opens with an extensive masturbation session performed by Miss Mond in a hot tub, which contains some of the best underwater camera work seen in porn. After the extended girl-girl and straight sequences performed in Manning's studio, the film concludes with a convertible-based quickie pairing Gina and Nick, and then Gina with the director (and presumably, her husband) himself. Neither hardcore scenes stray from the standard sucking and shtupping, but I appreciated the direction and setting. Unfortunately, we are denied any kind of money shot during the Nick and Gina affair, which makes me wonder if the implied internal cumshot was deliberate, or just an accident, or just a way to cover-up an ultimately disappointing pairing, for both Nick and the audience.
After their little tryst, we are taken to a disco, which really serves no purpose other than to stare at Gina showing off her goods on the dance floor. Except for the quick (and unnecessary) cutaways to Mr. Manning watching her from the sidelines, the eye-candy is worth your time, despite the undoubtedly necessary overdubbing. At the end, Gina is seen without her wig, but in a sexy little golden outfit which shows off her incredible legs. She gets it on with Phillip, who seems a bit stiff (no pun intended) sucking on her tongue while feeling her up, but manages to eat her out, get fellated, finger and fuck her ass, then cum in her mouth on cue. It isn't GINA LOVES ROCCO, but Ms. Mond has enough carnal skills and physical talent to make the scene work.
Other than being divided up into thematic sub-chapter (via a rather plain looking text menu with such flat descriptions like "Car Sex" and "Bicycles" and "House Sex"), there are no extras on this disc, which is a shame because of the obvious ambitions of the whole project. Although I appreciated his efforts, and can certainly recommend this disc for anyone who yearns for a little craft to go with their smut, INSEXTS is not for everyone. The artistic pretensions will either thrill and excite you or leave you bored and limp, but it's definitely worth a look.

Insexts has interesting and beautiful characters and even more interesting sex scenes. The costumes for each girl are highly imaginative and very eye-catching. Unfortunately, there's so much eye-candy that it's hard to keep up with what's going on.
The movie opens with Gina Mond, who is covered in jewels and a skimpy bikini. She is sitting poolside and she begins to play with herself. She starts off on a red, plastic couch and uses a glass dildo on herself, and then she moves into the water. The camera moves under the water to capture every last erotic moment. She puts the dildo in both of her holes and then in her mouth. After she is done giving herself pleasure, Gina calls her assistant, Amber, with a special assignment. She wants a popular photographer to make her erotic vision into a film.
Amber arrives at Vinny's studio ready to make him an offer he can't refuse. She struts into his studio with confidence and offers him $100,000 to make a film for her. Unfortunately, Vinny is very busy with a photo shoot and can't give Amber his attention. This is the point in the movie where it cuts to the "Insexts". It starts with a shot of each girl panning from top to bottom. The girls move slowly and show off their costumes and their bodies. Throughout the entire "bug scene" the girls never fully take off their costumes. They do take their large wings off so that they can move around and fuck easier though. It's a good thing that the costumes stay on them because the tight straps perfectly accentuate their tits and asses.
The Insexts - . Gina Mond, Genevieve Jolie, and Alexis Amore star as "the insexts". They start off by erotically dancing and moving in their bee, butterfly, and dragonfly costumes. The Bee entices her prey with her stinger instead of scaring him away. The butterfly uses her colors and scent to attract her mate. And the dragonfly uses her charm and long, elegant wings to draw in her man. The girls start with masturbation and slowly work their way up to giving each other pleasure. They suck dick and fuck their men on a one-on-one basis. But, towards the end of the scene, the insexts and their men have one big bug orgy with lots of sucking and fucking to watch.
The Cyclists - Tory Lane and Gina Mond are "the cyclists", but they have a different style of riding than most. They are both wearing only straps around their bodies that expose their breasts and pussies. Their bikes look normal at first glance, but you'll see that the seats are actually large dildos. At first, the girls play with their bikes and lick at the dildos attached to them. They masturbate using just their hands to pleasure themselves.
