I've been following the porno market ever since the advent of digital porn, and while I'm more than happy to find superb new titles like
Jenna Haze Dark Side,
Slutty And Sluttier, and
Porn Wars, I've always lamented the lack of old, out-of-print favorites during my halcyon/VHS days. Call it a generation gap, but I have yet to find a blue-eyed blonde with the sexual charisma of Ginger Lynn, or a brunette who seems to be having as much natural passionate fun as Leena. So what's a porn fan to do when the latest DVDs aren't stirring his loins? He returns back to the classics, and checks out Adult DVD Empire's "Recent Releases" section on a daily basis to see if he can find some good stroke material from yesteryear.
And that is how I rediscovered, for the first time, on DVD (as the saying goes) an old favorite of mine which now allows me to retire my well-worn, fifteen year old videotape and enjoy carnal goodness on a single platter.
Princess Of The Night stars Lauren Hall as a vampire who must feast on virgin meat. It's a storyline which is about as overused and clichéd as the pizza delivery boy scenario, and unfortunately, even the otherwise esteemed director F.J. Lincoln does little to advance this device. Even though the studio advertises
Princess as shot on 35 mm film, the look and production clearly reflect Betacam quickie values. Still, I recommend this movie for the lead actress (and covergirl) herself. Those who have seen John Leslie's classic The Tease, or else noticed how a certain blue-eyed brunette steals
The Last Resort away from Ashlyn Gere and Selena Steele, will instantly recognize this exotic beauty. Her early nineties career in porn was short, but sweet and impressionable enough to warrant a cult following.
In any event, she is introduced by a pre-boob job Madison to strong, silent type James Lewis (who, actually, was indeed deaf in real life) and the two retreat to her bedroom for an extended session of physical lust, accentuated by deep, passionate tongue kissing; slow, deep oral work; and cowgirl fucking with Lauren in control and enjoying every minute of it. You won't find anal or cum-swallowing in her scene (or anywhere else on this disc, for that matter) but dare I say that you won't miss it either. Quite simply, Miss Hall is one of those rare performers who didn't need to engage in sexual freak shows or extreme stunts in order to turn the viewer on. Of course, I would have killed to see her under the direction of Jules Jordan, or in a scene with Rocco Siffredi, but porn was slightly more innocent back then. I'm just glad to have a clear, clean copy of
Princess Of The Night (the Caballero produced DVD looks far and away better than my original videotape ever did) where I can get reacquainted with an old lust of mine.
For the record, I should also point out that this slight, but effective flick co-stars the infamous Jamie Gillis, a lead vampire who gets his way with Heather Lere, aka Brianna Rai. For those who are unfamiliar with Miss Lere's work, she's a blonde hottie with a kick ass body and naturally large breasts, who was much better known for her physical attributes (check out her threesome with Paula Price and Nina Alexander in
Night Trips 2) than her obviously indifferent attitude. Madison appears in two scenes, with Tony Montana on a motorcycle and then with Tom Byron in a shower. Though not necessarily a beauty queen, Madison always made sex seem fun and effortless, and it would have been nice to see her teamed up with Miss Hall. (There is a fairly amusing moment where the two women are reunited at the end of the movie, and Lauren attempts to kiss her on the mouth, while Madison gives her a simple hug. Lauren covers the mistake well enough, but I'm surprised that the director didn't go for a second take.) Viper, an older tattooed redhead who takes on three guys in a scene which may have limited visual appeal, but is still fairly raunchy nonetheless.
