After the passing of her husband, Kirsten Price learns that her house may be haunted in
Supernatural, Michael Raven's latest directorial effort in which he takes a look at the paranormal. And while neither the movie nor the DVD it is contained on quite lives up to Raven's last "big" movie,
The Visitors, fans of both his directorial style and the Wicked Girls aren't going to leave
Supernatural feeling let down.
The movie opens with Kathy (Kirsten Price) attending the funeral of her husband, Sean (Eric Masterson). Through a flashback sequence, we see how close the couple was and share one of their final intimate moments together as Kirsten (looking sexy in a black bra and panties which she soon strips out of) and Eric make out on a couch.
Back in the present, friends Steven St. Croix and Katie Morgan, as well as August (playing Kirsten's sister) comfort the grieving widow following the funeral. It's here that we get the first clue that something is amiss in Kristen's home - as a photo of Eric mysteriously breaks.
August decides to stay with Kirsten for a few days, which Steven and Katie head back home for an aggressive sex session that ranks as
Supernatural's best pairing. Steven dives head first into Katie's pussy, licking her and then moving his tongue to her ass to give her a rim job. This is followed by doggy, reverse cowgirl and missionary sex - all of which is hot and heavy, with some real chemistry between the two performers. The action ends when Steven pulls out and jerks onto Katie's body.
Kirsten starts to believe that her house is haunted - perhaps by Eric...but through some research she discovers that a former couple that resided in the house (Randy Spears and Jacy Andrews) both died there. Randy was killed by Jacy when the two argued about her having an affair, and Jacy overdosed on pills shortly thereafter. After Kirsten reads about the couple online, she sees Randy appear on a nearby television, which promptly blows up. Umm...I think it may be time to move out, Ms. Price.
That night, Randy's spirit makes another visit...this time to the bedroom of August, where he climbs into bed and starts making out with her. Of course, it's only after she's been fucked spoon and missionary and has had Randy shoot cum all over her body that August starts screaming.
Kirsten and August decide to call in a team of paranormal investigators, who are played by Barrett Blade, Sophia and (in a non-sex role) Jennifer Allison. The investigators are by far the most interesting characters in
Supernatural - so much that you almost wish Michael Raven had made the move about
them instead of Kirsten's character...but I guess there's always hope for a sequel. While at Kristen's home, they witness an event where Kirsten is attacked in her bedroom and her body is lifted up to the ceiling by the ghost.
The next to last sex scene in the movie takes place in the back of the investigators' van, where Barrett hooks up with Sophia. This is a so-so pairing, perhaps a little limited in action because the performers are in a confined space. It does include reverse cowgirl and spoon, and concludes with Barrett jerking up onto Sophia's body.
The investigators decide that the best way to get rid of Kirsten's problem is to contact Randy's spirit through a séance and discover what he wants/needs. This leads to the second flashback of the movie, in which we find out that Randy caught Jacy having an affair with Joey Ray. We get to see a scene between Jacy and Joey that takes place on a couch, and is notable because it's the only pop-shot in
Supernatural that isn't on the female performer's stomach/lower body. Here, we get to see Jacy take a nice facial shot, with some of the cum going into her mouth.
The situation with Randy's ghost seems resolved after the séance, but that doesn't mean Michael Raven doesn't have one more "scare" for the viewer - plus the opportunity for Kirsten's character to say one final "goodbye" to her husband.
Although
Supernatural is one of Wicked's first big titles of 2007, they've decided to only go with a single-disc DVD release. Still, there's a lot to like about the extras, which include a 13-minute "Making Of" featurette; bloopers; an extended shower sequence with August (which, honestly doesn't amount to much - it's only 2 minutes); and a bonus scene from
Between The Sheets featuring Kirsten and Barrett Blade. Also included are the typical slide shows, bios, trailers and promo materials you'll find on every Wicked DVD.
Supernatural is a good film, but it's not without flaws. The sex scenes are perhaps a little
too vanilla (even for a movie geared toward the couples' market), and even the editing here has a few points of sloppiness. For example, in the opening flashback scene between Kirsten and Eric, you hear Ms. Price call him "Eric" instead of his character's name. Then later in the movie, when Kirsten first calls up the info on Randy and Jacy, the first screen misstates that it's Randy's character that killed Jacy...only to see it state the opposite (and correct version) the next time we return to the computer screen.
Still, Michael Raven has the ability to draw us into a story and keep us interested...something you'd think more porn directors could do, but it's a rare talent in this industry, indeed.
Supernatural won't be remembered as one of his best movies, but it's certainly one of the more enjoyable adult features we've seen so far this year.
