The quirky, offbeat direction of David Stanley is back in play again for
Happy?, as Randy Spears plays a freelance writer who wonders if he's getting the most out of life - particularly when it comes to his wife, played by Exotica. While the movie has its odd visual moments (don't even ask me about the cupcakes!), Stanley always seems to address real issues in a humorous way, and
Happy? tackles the question that every man (or woman) deals with at one point or another in their relationship: Would I be happier with someone else?
As the movie opens, Randy is writing and fantasizing about a threesome between Mika Tan, Tony Tedeschi and Chris Cannon. The scene takes place against a white background and has the guys taking turns with Mika - usually while she's sucking on the other guy's cock. The action concludes with a pair of oral shots, and we return to Randy at his typewriter...still wondering if he could have a better life elsewhere.
Randy's thoughts of Exotica lead to a sex scene between the two, that includes missionary and spoon, and a scene-ending handjob/footjob during which Exotica jerks Randy back onto his stomach. Exotica rubs some of the cum onto her own foot and then licks it off.
The midlife crisis that Randy seems to be going through continues as he spends an evening at a local strip club, watching Daisy Marie strut her stuff on stage. When Lindsey Meadows comes over to give Randy a lap dance, he actually passes out from all the sexual attention. When he awakens, he follows Lindsey and Marcus London to a back room where he watches the two get it on with each other on a couch. This scene includes reverse cowgirl and doggy, finishing up with Marcus jerking his load onto Lindsey's behind.
Randy then fantasizes about going to a cheap motel with Daisy Marie and fucking her doggy and cowgirl style. He jerks down into her mouth and onto her face with what turns out to be the best pop-shot in the movie. Returning home (with flowers in hand), Randy opens the door to find Exotica sucking off Brad Armstrong in a blowjob-only sequence. Not to worry though - it's a fantasy sequence too...but things are actually much worse in reality.
Exotica has found Randy's writings, and can't believe he's questioning their happiness. She kicks him out, and Randy finds himself alone and spending his days staying at the same cheap motel he's envisioned in his fantasies. Six months after the break-up, Randy years some lesbian action going on in the room next to his at the motel. Justine Jolie and Kimberly Kane are partaking in a hot lesbian session that includes both girls fingering each other vigorously (with four fingers!) Randy fantasizes about Exotica joining in on the action, but after the threesome is finished, she arrives for real at Randy's door. Looks like he might be getting his happy ending after all.
Like most Wicked feature releases, this one is presented in anamorphic widescreen with 5.1 Dolby sound. In addition to a 19-minute behind the scenes featurette, the bonus material includes the trailer for

Manhunters featuring Exotica and Tommy Gunn; slide shows; star bios; trailers for other Wicked titles; and promo materials.
Happy? has a fun time exploring a serious question. It's goofy at times (few David Stanley releases aren't), but the sex is good, the performances are solid, and the movie is one you'll want to check out.
