Strange Fare Indeed 3.75 out of 5.00 - Film: 4 Extras: 3 Video: 4 Audio: 4 - 4/17/2008
Am I the only one who, upon looking at this box cover, was utterly confused when hearing "Stars and Stripes Forever" as the menu music for Bree's Slumber Party? What? Though it does get a bit stranger when Bree and Penny Flame debate politics in a thoroughly believable way. I just don't like Penny being represented as a Fox News style conservative... stop that! She turns me on! And politics turns me off!

Then having them fight throughout the credits is hilarious. Even better than that is when Derrick Pierce comes in and is misidentified as Tommy Gunn by the ladies. It's pretty funny, really, and he strikes a compromise in their debate and points out that they can both suck his dick. It's the delivery that makes it work.

But hey! Look! Sex! While Bree warms up Penny's pussy, Penny does this neat oral trick on Derrick where she runs her tongue straight from under his balls straight up to the head of his dick. There's something in the way she does it that is incredibly hot. Not sure what Derrick thinks of it, as we don't hear much from him, but it's nice to watch. Penny gets fucked well, but Bree steals the show with her easy anal performance. And while I would have loved to see a dick up Penny's glorious ass, this scene rocks pretty hard as it. Great facial.

David Lord then immediately addresses politics in the scene in a very frank manner. It was thoroughly interesting, to get this explanation, though it makes the title of the disc a bit confusing until he points out that he was supposed to do a stereotypical slumber party flick.

So they briefly try a scene that looks a bit like Mexican wrestling, with masks on all the ladies, and then a typical slasher flick, which had a bit more violence in it than I'd like for a sex film. The same went for the crime concept they briefly showed next... there's just a bit of uncomfortable misogyny running through the theory, and Lord is talking a bit more than he needs to.

And does everyone bloody need to be smoking during interviews?

Probably the other highlight in the film was Evan Stone coming out of a genie lamp. It's always a good film was Evan Stone is around to add hilarity. Much like the previous scene with "April" the fluffer and Justin Magnum, I was surprised how much emphasis was placed on the oral parts of the film. That's not a bad thing, but it seemed to almost be a bit of a fixation. Evan's good lines were at the end, where he was yelling about how he never agreed to do a porn shoot. Good delivery.

Then Lord congratulates himself a bit more than I'd like. I know he's acting, but still. Then we're back to an exceptionally stereotypical slumber party scene, complete with the feather pillow fight. Then it's an all girl four way, which in my experience is never a bad thing, though this is oddly shot... it's as though Lord is trying to keep all four in the frame, so it's easy to get lost in everything going on. That, and the bed they're on really isn't enough room for everyone. Then the toys come out, which bore me, as Bree and Penny take them rather thoroughly. Then they switch who gets the toys, then partners, then a split screen thing breaks out. Finally we get bits of rimjobs, which need to make up the next ten minutes in my eyes. But really it becomes a cacophony of girl pleasure sounds and sights, almost to the point of the absurd, which I think is the point. It all keeps going, which is impressive, long after I thought it would end.

It does end, and it's rather funny that it ends with most of the talent trashing him. Maybe a bit of attention whoring, but still, funny.

I didn't much care for the casual references to violence, which I think need to be kept away from mainstream porn, if just for the more extreme criticism our industry receives. That, and it's really not a turn on, at least not to me. I was a bit surprised this was an Adam & Eve release, to be honest, as it just didn't seem to fit their ethos. That's okay, it was just different.

I wouldn't call it gonzo, I wouldn't call it a feature either. It's a kind of narrative that has had large liberties taken with it, and that will appeal to many, though admittedly not to me.
