At first glance, porn fans might think
Bound has Wicked contract star Stormy Daniels exploring the kinky world of BDSM. But the fact of the matter is that this is more of a couples' film with Ms. Daniels only testing the waters of bondage, rather than diving into them. So for those hoping to see a lot of whips and chains, this title is "bound" to disappoint.
Stormy plays a character named Lily who, as the movie opens, is a down-on-her-luck waitress who gets fired after a customer slaps her on the ass and she retaliates by throwing a glass of water in his face. But Lily has more problems than just being out of work...she sells her body for extra cash in the evenings and has a nasty heroin habit. Then some creep tries to rape her in a phone booth, but Lily is saved by an elderly man (Dave Cummings) who happened to be at the diner when Lily was fired and saw what happened to her.
Cummings' character is also filthy rich, and he takes Stormy in, getting her off the drugs and falling in love with her at the same time. It's a mutual feeling, and soon the two are married. But cancer strikes Cummings and it isn't long before he's passed on, leaving his wealth behind to Stormy. Still, Stormy's character falls into a depression, not sure what to do with the rest of her life.
That's where Garret (Tony DeSergio) enters the picture. Garret was a loyal friend and employee of Cummings' character, and convinces Stormy to go out one evening with him. The two wind up at a club where Roxy DeVille starts to hit on Stormy, and she's immediately repulsed by it. But Stormy also finds herself becoming more and more attracted to Tony, and the two begin a relationship with one another.
It's at this point in
Bound that Stormy discovers Tony's interest in the bondage lifestyle. She becomes fascinated with the idea of totally submitting, and when they have a dinner party where Randy Spears shows them his total dominance over Gianna Lynn, Stormy decides to sign a "slave contract" for Tony, totally turning herself and everything she owns over to him. You can probably guess where the movie goes from there.
Although there's not much in terms of actual bondage in
Bound, the sex scenes aren't half bad. Stormy participates in four of the movie's scenes, including a scene with Voodoo at the beginning, a blowjob-only dream sequence with Tony; a girl/girl scene with Roxy that only has Roxy licking and fingering Stormy with no reciprocation on her part, and a closing scene with Tony where Stormy is wearing the collar, chain and outfit she graces the box cover with. But it's actually a pair of other scenes that provide the hottest sex in
Bound. There's a great scene at about the mid-way point of the film where Roxy teases Tony about being in love with Stormy, and then aggressively has sex with him. The "slave" scene between Randy and Gianna is also a nice one, due to an impressive pop-shot that Mr. Spears unloads onto Gianna's tongue and chin at the conclusion.
I won't spoil the ending to
Bound other to say that it's rather preposterous. The main character's actions don't make any sense, while the movie seems to be asking us to sympathize with another character that we should have no sympathy for.
Extras on the DVD include an extended version of the scene between Stormy and Voodoo, as well as about 80 seconds worth of deleted footage from the bondage party that Stormy attends in the movie. There's also the Stormy/Penny Flame pairing from
Predator II: The Return as a bonus scene; a 29-minute Behind The Scenes featurette; slide shows; star stats; 9 trailers for other Wicked releases; and other promotional materials.
Bound is not a bad movie, especially if you want to introduce your significant other to the
idea of bondage, but from a storytelling aspect it won't go down as one of Stormy's more memorable titles. The sex is good enough here for me to give it a marginal recommendation - but be sure to rent it or take a look on VOD before buying, unless you're a Stormy Daniels completist.
