I wasn't a huge Robby D fan when I got more involved in reviewing adult films, worried that there was a bit too much of himself in his films, not really letting the talent do the work. I'm really glad that either he's matured as a director or I've really changed, because these releases, like
Control 10, are almost universally great. And when you've got Jenna Haze, Cassie Calogera, and Alexis Texas in one movie? Look out, outta my way, I'm coming through. Mine.
There's a very nice sequence with Jenna Haze opening her scene by stripping around the house, taking Polaroids of herself all along the way. Remember Polaroids? I think they're going to stop making the film for them this year. Which is a shame in light of the artistry we got here. Is there some way to get into a raffle to get some of these pictures she took? A toy almost immediately comes out, though, and regular readers will know how much I hate that. I get there's some marketing involved there, but it automatically becomes the focal point of the scene, especially when the camera angle is too low, as it is here with Jenna on the bed. The toy work continues for a good long time, and Jenna seems to be genuinely enjoying herself, even snapping off a few more pictures along the way. I especially liked how she fingered her ass along the way, showing off that ass that gets so much wonderful on camera use. Her man eventually comes home, collecting the pictures as he goes and doing a great job with body language. The scene that ensues is really hot as well, as Jenna, with her little voice, proves to be quite the dirty talker, working her body all over her man like a true pro. It's all very well lit and well shot, too, despite my preference for a slightly higher camera angle. And because it's the terrifically dirty Jenna these days, of course there's anal. Great anal. Nice anal. And lines like "your cock owns that fucking asshole" coming from her are wonderful. Oh, and ATM, too. It seems like the only thing she isn't doing is giving rimjobs at this point. And I'd pay real money to watch that, too. Just as much as this scene was worth it.
Cassandra Calogera has a look I just adore. And while I wish she'd cool it just a bit with the makeup (sort of like Audrey Hollander... they both look great with far less), her body looks like infinite fun. Some of it is surely those tits and that ass, some of it the mannerisms like biting her bottom lip, some of it the innocence typified by her wearing one of those candy necklaces. It all comes together into one terrific package. She's also on that list of mine, with Jayden James and Trisha Rey, for stars I would personally pay to do anal. Really. Charge $100 a disc. It'll sell. One thing that surprised me a bit here was how subdued Cassie was. Now she's not generally overly reactive on camera, but she really didn't even seem to be having a good time this time when it came to actually fucking the guy. She did get that hip sway going during the reverse cowgirl, something my new girlfriend knows how to do and is a hell of a lot of fun. The spooning is probably the best out of this scene, and Cassie takes a messy mouthful in the end, even seeming to show what looked like a genuine smile for the first time all scene. Just strange, really, though we all have bad days, I suppose.
Oh dear lord, it's Alexis Texas. Now that's one hell of an ass. I saw her do an interview where she talked about how unique her look is, and that's some of why she's popular. I didn't like how the scene started with some bad camerawork in a car, but once we got down to exploring her body, it was all worth it. The scene starts a little stalkerish, but once the plot goes away it all works out. We're fortunate enough to get to watch Alexis take a shower, though that bit was oddly mundane. Shame, really. There were so many possibilities in there. I was also disappointed that it turned into a whipped cream scene. I don't like food and sex together like that, and it was yet another thing that was kind of distracting. And while I get they were going for a different kind of directorial thing, like an invisible voyeur, it was annoying in that the voyeur perspective was shot with a far inferior camera, one that wasn't balanced with the light at all. Minor things, but they hurt the enjoyment.
A good disc, don't get me wrong. It just didn't need some of the attempts at art in here that took away more than they added. One thing I've though of with Digital Playground is that they generally haven't added anything to any discs that didn't need to be there, and I hope that will in the future extend to the production style. Robby got a little inventive here. More than he needed to.
