Forever Is The Night, we have another one of Wicked's tremendous features at hand. I've been singing their praises pretty much non stop in recent months, and with the current financial troubles facing the porn industry, I sincerely hope Wicked isn't suffering as well. They produce adult entertainment of far too high of a quality to have to deal with that.
The Trouble With Young Girls looks to be an example, one of the very few I haven't gotten my hands on yet. And hey, my birthday's in a couple of weeks, so now you know what to get me.
Let me just say off the bat that I appreciate the artistry Wicked is trying to go for in
Forever Is The Night, but I don't think it quite comes off. The video is very grainy in the opening scene, and the lighting is just a little too dark to make it work. I also didn't like the quasi-rape feeling of the opening scene, something that in my eyes should be kept strictly out of porn. We have enough image problems as it is: we need to keep sex fun. Kaylani's in a wig outside, working a guy over orally after more than just a bit of coercion. The sex itself is a bit banal, and the lighting is far too dark to appreciate any bodies. I hate that. The whole point of paying to watch sex is to actually watch sex. Blah.
Why in the hell is the video still grainy? I don't get this at all. The second scene is a lesbian encounter with just about all of the rest of the female cast. I spied Alektra Blue in there, though with those eyes that's rather easy to do. It's heavy on toys and a bit light on tongues for my taste for a lesbian scene, but I'll cope. Way too grainy, though, and the increase in lighting makes it look like we're watching VHS. The video quality is that bloody bad.
There's a third scene. I don't care. Blonde with bad lighting and horrible video quality means I'm already looking at the rather attractive desktop image I just loaded onto my computer. And being more aroused by that. Yikes.
I'm not going to go on one of my Vivid level bashing sprees here, but I really expected more from
Forever Is The Night, simply because of the high level of quality to which I've become accustomed with Wicked.
One Wild & Crazy Night was fantastic - so much so that my coworker abducted it and she isn't giving it back.
Moving Out was excellent.
Carpool too. So why is this film so bad?
The only thing I can think of is that the director tried to get cute with atmosphere and try to make some statement with it. That's all well and good, but it works far better with mainstream film than it does with pornography. In the world of porn, if we can watch the sex with any kind of quality, it really doesn't serve any purpose. I can select anything from any studio much smaller from Wicked and get better video quality than this. That's sad. It's sad that directorial vision could potentially make one of the big pros look like amateurs.
One of the saving graces of this film, though just barely, is that there is a bonus sex scene from another film that has the high quality video to which we have become accustomed. It features Kaylani as well, so no need for her fans to be completely disappointed with this disc. The lighting level is still very low, though, so I'd still mark it down significantly.
I like Wicked. I love their comedies. It's outings like this that make me pause and reconsider my lavish praise. Still, everyone's allowed a clunker from time to time, and
Forever Is The Night is precisely that from Wicked.
