So, yeah, I mean, I like a lot of the punkier looking girls. So does OranjeWife; probably moreso, to be honest. But there's a certain point where ironic lingerie and prolific tattoos and wild hair stop doing it for me and I just want a really cute girl who looks good on camera. Allister is a bit of that in
Riot Grrrls, as well as a couple of others, but this still feels like a genre that ran its course a few years ago, to say nothing of the notion of using "grrrl" as an expression. All in all, if you like some alternative ladies, you'll no doubt be happy by some of what's on offer, but note that the ladies are far more extreme looking than any of the action herein.
Asphyxia and Allister have the first scene, which we're handily informed by a nice screen in the beginning. Good directing there. But what we get is really just a bunch of toy play, the kind you'd expect to find from
Where the Boys Aren't about a decade ago. The ladies are reasonably into it, though they aren't really fluid together, making the scene seem more than just a bit uncomfortable at times. It sort of works, but it's a slow start.
Mandy Morbid and Pixie Pearl are next, the latter last seen by yours truly in the horrendous
Doll Underground. There's some nice warm up into this scene, and they do genuinely seem to be into each other, something that helps an all girl scene immensely. Pixie practically rips Mandy's clothes off to get at her breasts. The camera angles then start to get a bit weird, where we really can't see much of anything of what's going on, Pixie up against a wall and Mandy blocking out all views of what she's doing to her. What was best about this was that there were no toys involved, all fingers and tongues, something that really seemed to work for both of the ladies. Out of all the scenes on this disc, this one felt the most right.
Cadence St John and Jayded are third, continuing our pairings of moderately goth-looking with girls having haircuts that need to be stared at. I enjoyed the typical frat boy humour here with a guy busting in on them, even though that seems to almost be a potential shot at the audience considering the age range and demographics of your average porn viewer. Okay, really, that's everyone, but you get my point. This one was very much a toy scene, and while the ladies seemed interested in each other, it wasn't overly passionate.
Envy Vicous and Eden von Sleaze do the next scene, and this one just felt downright awkward to me. The girls were too similar in attitude and overall appearance to really be paired together, and neither was anywhere near natural in delivering lines. Aside from using multiple toys at the same time, there really wasn't anything really overwhelming about this scene, feeling very average for porn, even being a typical bedroom scene. Very soft.
By the fifth scene, I'm honestly bored. Mandy and Pixie were probably the best scene, with Allister still my favourite to look at. But after an hour and a half, it's getting more than a bit monotonous. Very formulaic. Jessie Lee and Nova T.A. no doubt have the most unique looks on this disc, but they really aren't my bag. We open with Nova furiously working herself over with a toy, the most authentic performance on this disc, one where I could easily be convinced none of it was an act. Right then. Nova's now officially my favourite woman on this disc. There's some authentic work throughout this scene, but it really doesn't regain that heat even with Jessie involved.
You probably have to be a pretty firm (pardon the expression) lover of SuicideGirls to find
Riot Grrrls a consistent turn on. While I'm a casual fan, there's a certain je ne sais quoi missing from these scenes that makes me not as interested in these ladies. Nova was very hot, Allister cute, and Mandy and Pixie putting in a great performance. But those are only fragments of scenes, and that doesn't make a disc a classic. Make sure you're into it before you buy it.
