I actually had my first taste of Stoya after reviewing STOYA ATOMIC TEASE, an excellent title from the good people at Digital Playground. However, as charming as she was, I must admit that co-starlets Jenna Haze and Alexis Texas managed to steal the show at times and added considerable erotic value to that release. Likewise, the impossibly cute Jenna Presley commands our full attention during her coupling with David Perry in the penultimate scene. Naturally (or rather, artificially) her massive chest may seem like the obvious factor in her sex appeal, but it's really that sly smile and those gorgeous eyes which give her such a screen presence. Even though she's been in the business for nearly five years, her sexual practices seem a bit more labored than lusty, but I found little to complain about during her suck and fuck with Mr. Perry, which ends in a splash of man-goo on her face and chest.
Nevertheless, Stoya still manages to hold her own as proven by her two straight scenes with Mick Blue and then James Deen. Paired with Mr. Blue, their affair is an example of genuine chemistry and natural affection, which is actually rather surprising considering how Mick is generally known for his aggressive style. Deep kissing and prolonged cunnilingus make this segment ideal for couples viewing (assuming you can fuck as well as her partner), and overall mood and execution falls in line with the preceding opening scene starring Mick and Bridgett B. (a tattooed Spanish blonde whose look reminds me of early 80's performer Gail Force).
Stoya's scene with James Deen makes use of some bondage gear, including a riding crop and velcro restraints, but the domination theme is only used superficially. Kinkier conduct like toe-sucking is also shown, but not enough to discourage anyone who wants their hardcore free from such fetishes. However, that Stoya performs anal during the final moments of this last scene is impressive enough to watch repeatedly.
Of all five scenes, only the middle affair between brunette Mason Moore and Scott Nails struck me with the urge to speed-search, mainly because I'm not a fan of the tattoos which adorn her body. Otherwise, their work is definitely above-average, and she's a more than decent performer.
Visually speaking, there is no doubt that A TASTE OF STOYA looks absolutely striking on Blu-ray. There are moments when Director Robby D. had me convinced I was watching film as opposed to high definition video, and bodies look life-like and natural even with the obvious use of filters and softer lighting. I appreciated seeing details such as the cute freckles on Stoya's face, as well as the milky whiteness of her skin. Along with a Photo Gallery, trailers and website information, this disc presents a nearly ten minute Behind The Scenes segment (or "Behind The Fucking Scenes" as it is actually titled) which is skillfully made by Jamal Johnson. Rather than slapping together some aimless and random, Mr. Johnson serves up some fascinating technical shots and brief interviews with captions so that we don't have to strain to hear the questions and answers. (I've frequently complained about sloppy miking during these segments, and I'm glad to see these corrections and improvements.)
The best compliment I can offer A TASTE OF STOYA is that it's an ideal recommendation for anyone wants to see how great porn can look in high definition. Impressive images, hot girls, and good, solid sex make this one to add to your Blu-ray collection.
