I'm thinking Burning Angel Entertainment is now into their teenage years: they're beyond the pre-teen poop and fart jokes, but they haven't quite gotten to the point where they realize they don't have to try to be deliberately provocative to have a good product. The "Extra Shit" tab in the menu could go at any time, and some of the rest of the approach could really use a bit of maturity as well. It's time for them to move out of the dorm room and into the land of adults.
I say this because they otherwise make some really fantastic films, with
No Panties Allowed being no exception. This James Deen directed feature, of course starring Joanna Angel, has a thorough cast with full effort. Worth the money.
But can we please improve the music? It sounds a bit like someone ran Sonic Youth over with a tractor.
We open with Joanna and James. It must be nice to either own the company or be the director, as you get to do things like this. So each tease sequence is going to have plenty of upskirt sequences pointing out that the premise to the film is indeed true. Not much subtlety here. And the music's still terrible. It does eventually stop, as Joanna starts smoking pole on the balcony. The lighting appears to be better balanced for indoors, though, as everything is just a bit more washed out than it should be. James is back to his odd muttering again, too, which is more creepy than sexy. And I really can't tell if Joanna is having a good time or not. They do thankfully move inside, though the lighting is still somehow not great: still just a bit too bright as James has two fingers up Joanna's ass. The cock follows shortly thereafter, but they're in much too cramped of a setting, with the camera stuck on the same closeup throughout the position. It's as though the camera got stuck in the corner when they started fucking and couldn't move. Then Joanna was just staring down the camera the whole time, looking very uncomfortable, while James continued his muttering. James also belongs on the directorial blacklist for the terrible camera angle for reverse cowgirl anal. As has become a porn epidemic, the camera angle is far too low, basically being just a shot of penetration with a head above it. Remember, reverse cowgirl is supposed to show off the body of the female talent. That shouldn't be hard to fuck up, and yet...
The scene gets progressively less extreme, getting more normal until James blows a load mostly on Joanna's crotch, though gets most of her body. Bad angle for it, though.
I do love Draven in the second scene, though I'm continuing this film with the sound off. I just can't do it anymore. Good chemistry here, and Draven's a joy to look at (aside from the nipple piercings, but that's just because I don't like pierced nipples). It's a couch scene, which means that the positions are really quite limited. And once again, despite being indoors throughout, the lighting still manages to be too high to the point of washing out the talent. Big chest shot in the end, even though they teased it as a facial. Not bad, but it could have been better.
So it seems to go with the rest of the scenes, especially with the tasty Andy San Dimas. No scene with her should have flaws, and yet her scene with Kris Slater manages to be in too tight of quarters to get decent camera angles. In the laundry room? Really? At least we really do get a facial out of this scene, a big splatter job, this one.
No Panties Allowed is a film that shows a company in transition. It's an improvement over some of their earlier works, but there is still artistic and directorial steps that need to be taken before they're all the way there. The sound was good (aside from the muttering), but the camera angles are sometimes just brutal, the lighting needs work, and James needs to stop the damn muttering.
No Panties Allowed is recommended if you're really attached to one of the ladies, but otherwise it's a work not quite ready yet for primetime.
