It was a pleasure to become reacquainted with Sylvia Saint, a blue-eyed, blonde lass from the Czech Republic who was one of the more popular performers of adult nearly ten years ago. She stars in this single disc (the second disc contains two bonus scenes and trailers), "new edition" feature from Private Classics entitled DANGEROUS THINGS, which was released back in 2000 but somehow eluded my watchful eyes.
The original movie was a two-part flick, with the first volume running for an hour and forty-nine minutes, and volume two clocking in at nearly ninety minutes. This two-hour, twenty-seven minute re-edit obviously drops several vignettes found in the original cut, yet still manages to squeeze in at least thirteen sex scenes, most of which feature Sylvia herself. Lacking the ability to compare this re-issue with the originals, I couldn't quite tell what specific footage was pared down, but the trimming doesn't hurt the flow of the film, nor does it reduce the heat of the hardcore.
I will say that Antonio Adamo's usual brand of multi-colored effects, slow-motion, and dream-like images seems to be reduced considerably. While I've always appreciated his work, Adamo's style has been visually obtrusive at times, so the more straight-forward presentation probably improves the film. While adult material has become rougher and more daring in recent years, I can't imagine any raincoater complaining about the quality of the fucking and sucking found here. The carefree explorations into anal sex, as well as the frequent facials will be much appreciated. It's also safe to say that no one will be complaining about the eye-candy, in which European talents Sandra Kay, the late Lea DeMae and of course Miss Saint herself easily match up to the best America has to offer. These girls engage in acts which would challenge even the most seasoned domestic performer, yet they do it with a smile.
Bonus features include two "outtakes" which seem to have been taken from more recent Private features along with some trailers. Visual quality is clean and clear, even with the soft-focus videography. I appreciate that Private is giving a new generation of viewers to catch up on features which have been discontinued by the studio, or else buried under the avalanche of new releases which occur on a monthly basis. However, as with most mainstream films, I'm not sure whether I prefer a re-edit over the originals. I can certainly recommend DANGEROUS THINGS on the strength of the sex scenes alone, but if I were a true fan of Private titles in general, and of Sylvia Saint in specific, I might want to track down the original DVDs just for my own collection.
