WHAT WENT WRONG earns considerable bonus points for having Alexis Texas and Tori Black in the cast. Otherwise, it's a "just okay" feature video starring Stormy Daniels, who has certainly done better work in so many other Wicked titles.
Part of my problem with this movie is a near universal complaint I have of any movie photographed by Francois Clousot: It's just too damn dark most of the time. Miss Texas's scene with Anthony Rosano suffers considerably because of this, in which shots of her excellent oral work and of her getting fucked while on a swing are partially obscured by shadows. Tori Black's affair with Marcus London and Stormy's movie-ending finale are a bit easier on the eyes, but I would have enjoyed them a lot better if a few more light bulbs were turned on.
However, Mr. Clousot's "efforts" are only part of the disappointment. Director Morgan has fashioned a small-scale soap opera which takes itself a bit too seriously, despite many comedic elements. Stormy Daniels and Marcus London are a former couple who moan and groan over what went wrong in their relationship, leading into a series of flashbacks on events which affected their sex lives, and of course, serve as an excuse for bringing several familiar performers together. Kagey Linn Karter and Rocco Reed play college buddies who put on a show for the tragic couple in a flashback sequence. We then see Miss Daniels being seduced by her teacher played by Sascha in one of the more arousing scenes of WHAT WENT WRONG. Mr. London then gets his turn while on a European trip with Tori Black, who speaks in a deliberately laughable accent, but also delivers an unsurprisingly terrific carnal performance.
The scene involving Alexis and Anthony is presented as a fetish-themed act of voyeurism for the Stormy and beau, who munch on popcorn while watching the spectacle. Mr. Rosano plays a spaceman from Uranus (yeah, I get it), while Miss Texas is a "dirty street hooker." Despite all the fetish gear and outfits, there really isn't anything that interesting going on between them (though I did catch a line from
Family Guy, which made me chuckle just a little bit). After all is said and done, there is a final resolution between the couple, and I don't think I would be spoiling the movie to say that things get physical. As always, Stormy is extremely easy on the eyes, so seeing her in action is never disappointing, despite the technical difficulties.
Bonuses on this disc include another Stormy sex scene (with Manuel Ferrara) excerpted from FORBIDDEN, a photo gallery, several trailers, but no Behind The Scenes featurette or anything substantive having to do with the main feature. Other than my (recurring) complaints regarding the videography, picture quality on this DVD is excellent, and the audio is up to par. I found more than a few things wrong with WHAT WENT WRONG, but it's still better than most of the videos churned out on an hourly basis by lesser studios.

Wicked still does their features better than just about anybody out there, with a consistent competence that no one else can match. They also do an excellent job of showcasing their other forthcoming titles before they show a feature. I have found this generates a lot of personal interest in their other titles. For
What Went Wrong, the trailers include the forthcoming
Friends 4 Life - which straddles a line in between funny and creepy - and
Wicked Games, one of those titles that seems to take itself just a little bit too seriously, though manages to look good.
What Went Wrong seems to be one of those titles that falls somewhere in the middle, being both kind of sad in a dramatic way, and yet a bit whimsical as well. There isn't a whole lot that is pleasant about break-ups, and yet this is the starting point for this Stormy Daniels vehicle. Maybe it's best to describe it as a CW drama, harkening back to the days of OranjeWife watching
Everwood and
Jack & Bobby. It has that kind of feel, down to the slide guitar in the opening theme.
I have to admit that I liked strawberry blonde Stormy more than platinum blonde Stormy, but it's okay. A bit too much makeup, too. The plot here revolves around our former couple at a coffee shop, reminiscing a bit about old times. I do want to know who the lady with the tattoo sleeve is in the foreground of this scene. Can I watch her work in this film?
Our first flashback takes us to the start of their relationship, where they're on a couch watching their friends go at it, as they're just getting to know each other. Amusing how they're pretending to be college age at this point, but I'll let it slide with the whimsy they have going. Kagney Linn Karter is said friend, and we get to see quite a bit of her along the way. Have I mentioned that Kagney has fantastic breasts? Not that we get long looks at first, as we pan back and forth from Kagney's action to Stormy's awkward introduction. They have their first kiss and the scene continues for our other two lovers. Kagney is just so expressive; for me, that's what really makes her scenes work. It's a couch scene here, and for some reason the video isn't quite as crisp as it could be, so sometimes the action feels a touch missed. Standard positions all the way around, though Kagney does take a rather nice mouth load in the end. Good scene for many people's favourite new starlet.
Stormy finally gets to it in the second scene, an office setting that does a very nice job of capturing the action. These usually seem to be good sequences, as they require a bit of positional ingenuity to make everything work. The close-ups in this scene get to be a little bit much, as medium shots would really allow us to look at the talent instead of body parts one at a time, but Stormy certainly doesn't disappoint. Another good mouth shot in the end, though Stormy almost immediately spits it all out.
Tori Black's scene is just fantastic, and it just seems I never appreciate her amazing body quite enough. If you get a chance, check out the latest
Girls of Penthouse to see a nice shot of Tori without makeup on. She's a really pretty woman, and I hope that more natural look gets used by more directors. Stunning. She's a real screamer in this scene, taking control of all of the action throughout. She takes a great facial in the end, too. Can't wait to see her first anal scene!
What Went Wrong falls in that middle area of feature porn, where it isn't a comedy, but it also isn't a drama that takes itself too seriously. It has as happy of an ending as you can have in this type of film, where they figure out they really were pretty good for each other, as the final scene demonstrates. Along the way we get a pretty good luck at Alexis Texas in action as well.
There's a nice bonus scene of Stormy as well, this one with the ever-energetic Manuel Ferrara. A great scene to get as a bonus. Overall it's a fun, harmless film that should be safe for basically any couples viewing. Certainly worth a look if you're a fan of any of these ladies.
