Regular OranjeNation readers will know my appreciation for Wicked's work in the land of features as of late. They do such an amazing job with them, just really nailing every aspect of the production process. But
Hard Day's Work is an all sex flick, and the fact that they're advertising their story-based features in the opening is somehow odd.
The Free Speech Coalition runs their ad on piracy, too, something I give my unreserved support to. Like any industry, the adult industry needs income to continue existing. Thanks for supporting them.
So it should say quite a bit that my only complaint about
Hard Day's Work is that the chapter menu is just a sequence of numbered panes rather than actually labeled with the performers. For an all-sex feature, that's kind of a major mistake in my book.
Of course, they make up for it quite quickly by opening with Eva Angelina. Yeah, that's a good way to make up for it. Not only is Eva one of my favourite performers, but she's also one of the most genuinely nice people I've had the pleasure of interacting with. Throw in the impossibly cute Gracie Glam and the very tasty Carla Cox and we're pretty much all set, you know?
So Eva does the nice thing and strips for me, I mean us, and there are just so few porn stars I'd rather watch. I'm hoping this means Eva is going to do some reverse cowgirl in this scene. If you haven't seen her do it before, she is the reason they invented this position. Just perfect legs - hell, perfect entire body - and she moves just oh so well. I'm a bit concerned that it's Mark Wood she's starring with. Granted, he seems like a nice enough guy to me, but he just gets so oddly grabby in most of his scenes, like he views a woman's body as a toy of knobs and buttons. Almost early Ben English bad. Though he just seemed like a control freak. Mark seems to have good intentions. Office sequence ensues, though they ditch the plot rather quickly in favour of taking clothes off. Quite the lengthy scene here, which I say as a good thing. Probably the highlight is a very vigorous missionary bit on the desk, though the camera is a bit low, meaning it's largely a genital shot. Shame, that. We do get our reverse cowgirl bit, but it too suffers from too low of a camera angle. I expect no less from Zander, mind you, but I do hope some day he'll learn. An external cumshot all over Eva's pussy in the end, though again the camera is too low and we're at borderline medical exam level. Just disappointing that a director can't figure something this simple out. And did we need to zoom in for the extreme pussy close-up at the end?
Let's jump to Gracie. She usually cheers me up. Though having such soft focus that my eyes hurt on her tease sequence is just another source of irritation for me. Damn it so much. Still cute as hell, though she may be one of the very few women for whom I say that glasses actually take away from her beauty. If you didn't catch Gracie in
Buttwoman vs. Slutwoman (I may have that title backwards, but whatever), her scene with both Alexis and Kristina was utterly mind-blowing. And, sadly, better than what's on offer here. Again, the camera is just all over the place. Too tight, then too far out, then just focused on the wrong thing. Sorry to pick on these things, but I actually have a degree in this shit so I like to see it done properly.
And that just goes to show you that having all the talent in the world makes no difference in a film if it's not directed properly. This is an amazing cast of ladies here, and the male talent is certainly experienced enough to do the job right as well. That places all of the blame clearly on the technical side of things, and they do manage to do a pretty good job of bringing
Hard Day's Work pretty far down. Recommended if you simply must have everything by one of the ladies here. Otherwise you might just be frustrated.
