3 DAYS IN JUNE is one of the better Wicked titles which have come across my desk lately. For whatever reason, recent features by the esteemed studio struck me as rather hackneyed and dreary looking, and in need of new directing talent. As it turns out, 3 DAYS IN JUNE is helmed by the very lovely Jessica Drake, who generously offers herself in three enjoyable straight scenes. The movie is a melodrama which appears to take its inspiration from a sleeper summer hit of 2009, but doesn't get too bogged down by its own pretensions. While scenes are still a bit darker than I prefer, they're not nearly as muddled-looking as other Wicked titles. At the very least, it proves that Miss Drake is just as capable of working behind the camera as she is performing in front of it.
Jessica plays a bar waitress named "June" who takes an easy liking to a loudmouthed kid named "Cody" played by Dane Cross. They have a confrontation over his lack of ID while ordering a drink with his buddies, and later on, she shows up in his hotel room and seduces him confidently. Whether this scene is meant to be capitalize on the MILF themes or whether it's simply a way for Miss Drake to show off her always superb sexual prowess, I couldn't really tell, but I'm grateful to see her in action any which way I can.
Given Jessica's eye-batting presence in the majority of this two-hour movie, so I can't imagine any fan of hers not picking this up immediately. She has a brief masturbation scene in the shower one-third of the way through, and then gets it on with bar owner Herschel Savage shortly thereafter. At the end, she is reunited with Mr. Cross for a final fuck in the same hotel room. In between all of Miss Drake's scenes, we get an average fling between cute blonde Briana Blair (playing Dane's obviously neglected girlfriend) and Seth Gamble, and a mini-orgy with Dana DeArmond, Mallory Rae Murphy, Kris Slater and T.J. Cummings.
While none of the scenes are truly outstanding, there are some very enjoyable moments, including medium shots of Jessica getting anal-ized by Mr. Savage in reverse cowgirl position, and close-ups of our favorite dirty blonde giving head. The climactic fourway session suffers a bit due to lack of the girls working on a single guy so dual-action blowjobs are distinctly absent. I appreciated seeing the girls eat each other out whenever possible, along with Dana's willingness to get plugged up the butt, but the facials were somewhat weak (especially on Miss DeArmond) and the absence of any cum-swapping was a disappointment. But again, Jessica really shines whenever she's on camera, and though not her very best work in adult, it's pretty darn good.
3 DAYS IN JUNE offers standard extras like a Behind The Scenes featurette, photo gallery, studio information, and a scene starring Jessica Drake and Randy Spears excerpted from THE ALIBI. Incredibly, Wicked also offers a bonus feature where three additional scenes are provided, but only accessible after dialing a 1-900 number or texting a message through your cell phone. I doubt that any viewer will appreciate having to pay out more money for something already imbedded on the DVD, but unwatchable without going through the rather questionable procedures.
What's particularly annoying about this feature is that I stumbled upon it after viewing a "public service announcement" by members of the porn industry decrying illegal downloads and pirating. While the cause is justified and should be fully supported, my sympathy was somewhat reduced after encountering this particular "bonus." But for the sake of this review, I did throw in my hard-earned money (my kids may never get to their Clown College of their choice, now) to see these three extra hardcore scenes, which feature Alexis Texas with Marcus London, Kirsten Price and Manuel Ferrara and Stormy with Brendon Miller. Unlike most Wicked features photographed by Francois Clousot, these gonzo-like vignettes are brightly lit and pleasing to the eye. With a running time of approximately sixteen minutes apiece, these admittedly hot and heavy scenes are just as intense and action-packed as the best moments found in the main feature, but I doubt I would go through this process again on any future Wicked purchases.
Fortunately, Jessica Drake's work in 3 DAYS IN JUNE is good enough to overcome any misgivings I have over the bonus features, and for presence alone, I recommend this disc.

I love how Wicked Pictures seems to be affording their female talent more opportunities to direct. I hope that is a trend that not only continues, but also that other studios perhaps adopt in the interest of seeing new directions for the industry. With
3 Days in June, we have a film both starring and directed by Jessica Drake. It's definitely a nice move, and has resulted in some very high quality features over the last couple of years.
As with many films lately, this one opens with the Free Speech Coalition ad about piracy. I mention it because I think it is an important message, but I won't harp on it for too long. Otherwise my editor is going to think I'm trying to fill my word count with it. Really, though, don't steal porn... it hurts the industry and the quality of future productions.
Odd bit in the opening credits: there's a trademark sign after Jessica's name. Strange, that. I guess it's important to protect intellectual property, but it never occurred to me that names of talent are included there.
So Jessica Drake is the bartender and is sick of dealing with drunken college guys. Dane Cross is in this one, and he seems to be portrayed initially as the good guy. But they're all really quite awful, and he's as much of a prick to her as any of the others. Can we have any demonstration of guys not acting like pricks in bars in porn? Terrible bar scene, too, the kind where I wouldn't want to be there, but that's what I get for being misanthropic. They do a nice job of fading in and out of each scene here... gives the whole thing a bit more gravity. Jessica calls Dane on his bluster, and she decides to show him exactly how it's done. Not the best lighting in this scene, and most of the camera work stays close in, so I never really got a feel for the whole picture. Jessica's bracelets are driving me crazy in this scene, too, making a jangling sound that is incredibly distracting. A solid scene here, very predictable from a condom perspective, where it's a lick-suck-fuck-facial sequence. Hot, but certainly something we've seen before. That's really the limiting factor of condoms in porn. Not that I don't understand why some studios use them, but they are limiting alongside their protecting nature.
The second scene is incredibly hot, with the fantastically luscious Brandy Blair. I mean, her body is like a gift from the gods she's so great to look at here. She definitely enjoys herself while getting her pussy eaten by one of the college guys in what I think is the same bedroom just dressed up slightly differently from the last scene. While I have this scene playing, I'm busily using the search function to find other films she's been in. Need more! And what tits during the reverse cowgirl! I think I'm hypnotized! She takes a rather huge pop shot in the end, too, going from her stomach to her eyebrows. Yeah, I would have enjoyed her enough to blow all over the place, too.
And, ooh... turns out she's the girlfriend of Dane Cross. Yikes. That's a bit of a rough thing to watch.
We get the requisite solo scene for this disc from Jessica Drake, this one in the shower and rather nicely filmed.
Herschel Savage does a great job being intimidating, acting as the bar owner and advising Dane to stay away... that Jessica will just break him. He's one of the better actors in the adult world, Herschel. He does a good job furthering the plot, and he also manages to get his own scene with Jessica as well. Good on him for that. I'll leave it for you to explore, but Jessica gets up to some things she doesn't exactly do everyday.
3 Days in June is the kind of film I generally expect from Jessica Drake, as she does seem to have this habit of being in more serious flicks. Kudos to her directing work, though, and this is overall a well-made film. The talent is a good mix, too, making it one you'll probably want to pick up.
