Make sure not to operate a motor vehicle or heavy equipment while watching VICTIM OF LOVE - VOL 2, a Vivid release starring curvy, Christy Canyon and directed by Paul Thomas. While Vivid has certainly cornered the market on the best looking women in porn, their main line of releases is somewhat lacking as pure, non-stop monkey-spanking material and VOL 2 is no exception. Like many other Vivid releases, VOL 2 looks great and stars stunning women but suffers from a bit too much dialogue, plot, and "acting," and too little action. Nevertheless, it is pretty good for what it is and stars some grade-A beauties.

VICTIM OF LOVE 2 picks up where the first film left off (I guess). Mickey Ray is the husband of sultry, brunette Christy Canyon (just called "Canyon" on the DVD case - one of many laughable typos and boneheaded misspellings that frequently turn up in hastily released porn (e.g. Jamie Summers is spelled "Jammie" in the credits and Kim Wylde is spelled "Wilde" (even though she really doesn't appear in this film)). In a nutshell, Randy Spears rats out Mickey to Christy about Mickey having an affair with super hot, trim, athletic, all-natural, blonde, Jammie, er, I mean, Jamie. Suffice it to say, Christy isn't too thrilled about it and throws Mickey out. Christy is then free to hook up with Tim Lake while Mickey is free to spend more time with Jamie. (Although VOL 2 opens with scenes from VOL1, it is never quite clear when one film ends and the other begins).

Christy, with her wonderfully curvaceous body and pendulous breasts, has a tender suck and fuck session with Tim, complete with drippy, romantic chamber music playing all the while. This scene almost qualifies as soft-core as the two only perform the act in one position (standing), penetration shots are mild and there is no pop shot. Unfortunately, in the meantime, Mickey finds out that Jamie is not a one-man mistress. Not to worry though, her other boyfriend, the ever-incomprehensible T.T. Boy has no problems sharing her with another guy. After a quick pizza, the guys grope, lick and kiss Jamie's amazing figure and take turns with her in the doggy, cowgirl and missionary style while the other receives her luscious mouth. T.T. finishes on Jamie's torso and Jamie orally and manually manipulates Mickey to completion. Once again, this scene is fairly mild by porno standards but definitely works well since the object is to watch this stunning specimen have hot sex and not go on a generic gynecological field trip with video close-ups.

Mickey and Randy reconcile (why let a little hot trim break up an old friendship?) and Mickey attempts to patch things up with Christy. Unfortunately, Mickey admits that he "can't survive" without both women and Christy decides that she better meet Mickey's mistress. Of course, Christy does what any normal jilted wife (in a porno movie) would do, she has Christy strip down to reveal her walking wet dream of a body and experiences her for herself. The ladies tenderly kiss, fondle and orally pleasure each other to the sounds of building orchestral music and Jamie orally and manually pleasures the waiting Mickey to completion on her pert, little breasts. (Jamie sprawled out across the top of the couch while Christy pleasures her is a sight to behold) With the decision to keep Jamie around as an occasional part of their marital bed, Mickey and Randy make up and their happy marriage continues. (I wonder why Ann Landers doesn't suggest 3-ways more often as an answer to marital strife?)

Although the DVD case boasts more female talent than actually appear, Christy Canyon and Jamie Summers more than rise to the task of carrying the film. Jamie is absolutely breathtaking and the well-photographed scenes with her are great. However, the top heavy plotting and dialogue get tiresome and the insufficient chapter breaks lead to lots of fast forwarding to get to the good stuff. Bottom line, for guys looking for lots of facials, ass-fucking, nasty penetration close-ups and the like, VOL 2 is a disappointment. However, for fairly stimulating softcore action starring two beautiful women and suitable for viewing by couples or anyone else not necessarily looking for a hardcore experience (and having a little patience), VOL 2 fits the bill pretty well. Extras include Vivid girl bios, previews and a bonus side.

A Restoration of the "Victim of Love" 4.25 out of 5.00 - Film: 4 Extras: 5 Video: 3 Audio: 5 - 6/3/2001
For any serious porn fan, who began watching sex-vids prior to 1995, the release in the year 2001 of the minor Jamie Summers/Christy Canyon effort "Victim of Love 2" raises the question of "why?"

Back in 1998, Vivid Video first released a DVD-version of "Victim of Love"--which, unlike the videocassette and laserdisc versions, which broke the storyline into two-parts--contained the complete storyline. The married Mickey Ray (the "Victim of Love") goes from a secret affair with Jamie, to discovery by wife Christy, to resolution--all contained within the single 1998 DVD release. The last sequence in the 1998 DVD is the same last sequence that ended "part 2" on both the cassette and laserdisc versions.

So, the question is: is there more of the story to tell?

The answer is: No! What the 2001 DVD release contains is the last four scenes that are already on the 1998 version. As if responding to the often-stated criticism that Vivid "edits" its DVDs--cutting out large chunks of scenes that appear on their cassettes--the new "Victim of Love" has restored the final two sex scenes of the movie to their original (cassette/laser) length.

The first of the restored scenes is the three-way between Jamie, Mickey Ray, and TT Boy. This scene also has a different "set-up" than appears on the cassette/laser versions. (And, a new musical score--which is not an improvement) The new set-up does improve the storyline, but isn't really needed. The restored sex action in this scene is a major improvement over the 1998 DVD version. The foreplay activity between Jamie, Mickey and TT is complete, and the viewer gets to see Jamie fuck both guys in long, erotic-building sequences.

The 2001 version of this three-way still has an "un-natural" break-in-action that later resumes with shots of both guys playing with themselves while watching Jamie shake and finger her ass on the couch.

TT gets "wood" first, and finishes her off with a vigorous fuck; while Mickey settles for a handjob from Jamie after the TT fuck.

What might have been interesting is if Vivid had included a "behind the scenes of..." or "outtakes" on this DVD that explained the break in action. Did the guys lose "interest" in Jamie? Did someone do something out of line that caused the action to stop? Or, did they just break for lunch? One of the opportunities with DVDs is that directors/production companies can add production info in the same package as the video. Vivid misses an opportunity to provide the adult community with the type of quality product that is standard on mainstream DVDs.

The second improved scene in the restored "Victim of Love" is the finale sex scene: another "three-way", this time between Jamie, Christy and (afterwards) Mickey. In the 1998 version, this scene was heavily edited, with little of the Christy/Jamie lesbo "build-up". This has all been restored, and proves to be a very good girl/girl scene; with Mickey receiving a blowjob from Jamie after she and Christy finish.

So, there you have it: two improved scenes in a video that still is not "complete"--since this new version doesn't contain the "beginning" of the storyline--just a "...scenes from Part 1".

Still, the question remains: why restore this particular Jamie Summers video? "Victim of Love" and "Blue Jean Brat" are probably the least satisfying, from an erotic standpoint, of any of the Jamie Summers productions for Vivid. So why spend more time/money on a vehicle that's not that good to begin with?

There are, however, a couple of good bonus scenes that are from other productions (with no-name players) that Vivid has included on this disc. The 1998 DVD didn't have any extras. The great advantage that Vivid has been exploiting for the last couple of years is their large stockpile of scenes, accumulated over the years. It is, indeed, a strange twist that a company that build its reputation on stars and features is now sustaining it's profits by releasing compilations ("Inside Kobe Tai", etc.) and inclusion of random scenes, featuring non-contract performers, on its DVD feature releases.

Bottom line: Because the 2001 version contains the complete sex scenes, it is recommended for hardcore Jamie Summers fans.

It is also hoped that Vivid brings out complete, one-disc, DVDs of Summers' "The Phoenix" and her final hit, "House of Sleeping Beauties."

Victim-less crime 3.25 out of 5.00 - Film: 4 Extras: 4 Video: 3 Audio: 2 - 5/17/2001
At long last, Part Two of the Jamie Summers/Christy Canyon vehicle VICTIM OF LOVE makes its way to DVD. Unlike the first movie, this digital transfer is not filled with phony multiple angles, and under the Wave label, we are spared any wholesale editing or hatchet jobs.

However, like so many Wave titles, the music score has been changed to something different than what was originally heard in the first video incarnation. I have no idea whether this is a copyright problem, or that simply Vivid wants to "update" the soundtrack for new viewers. However, I will say that for anyone intimately familiar with any of the sex scenes, hearing a whole accompanying music is not only noticeable, but distracting.

However, no amount of noise will lessen the terrific lesbian scene between the lovely Jamie and the bouncy Christy. Mickey Ray joins in for a partial threesome, but the girl-girl scene which occurs is more than enough sexual satisfaction. Jamie looks terrific, and I hope that Vivid releases more of her videos like BAD NEWS BRAT and JAMIE LOVES JEFF as soon as possible.

Video quality is quite grainy, but is just as good as the laserdisc, and the audio suffers because of the new music. Vivid should have left well enough alone.
