Pros: Small but potent. Slim enough for novices to enjoy.
Cons: It's made of jelly, not silicone. No sharing this one, folks.
WARNING: This toy is intended for anal use. Remember to take your time and use plenty of lubricant when sticking anything up your butthole.
Think about your favorite sex toy. Is it a love doll? Vibrator? Maybe a riding crop? I'm willing to bet it's not an anal toy. Not everyone is into backdoor lovin', and for many people (perhaps including yourself), it's just plain taboo.
If you've thought about trying an anal toy, but aren't sure about the assortment of plugs and probes, try one of the few things I have come (again and again) to enjoy having up my ass: the Doc Johnson
SpectraGels Vibrating Anal Tool. Composed of a plastic solid-state vibrator wrapped in a jelly sleeve that is flared at the end for safe anal play, this inexpensive jelly toy has greatly impressed me. Now, you may be wondering, "How can he possibly gush about something you shove up your ass?" It makes anal masturbation feel good. Could you ask for more?
As previously mentioned, lubricant is essential when using this toy, the anus not being self-lubricating. This toy doesn't come with any lubricant, but I recommend a thick glycerin-based solution such as
Probe. Silicone lubes will also work since this is a jelly toy. The five beads on the jelly sleeve are graduated and at about 5.75" in length, you get a different level of sensation from each one. At 1.5" thick for the largest ball, this toy will not give anal fanatics that "gaping" feeling they're looking for, but I think it will be more than sufficient for most.
I am not usually a fan of vibrators, but I definitely appreciate the sensations they lend to anal toys. Although this toy's "lipstick" vibrator, which takes one AA battery, is not super-strong, it does work pretty well through the jelly. It is also removable for cleaning or if you want to substitute your own bullet. I am plenty happy with the stock vibe; after inserting all the beads the vibrations on my prostate are sublime. But if you're more of the active type, feel free to pound away. I have used this toy about ten times over the month I've had it, and it seems to be holding up well. And yes, it is water resistant.
The only serious downside to this toy is its jelly base, which means its longevity is suspect, and that it shouldn't be shared, even after cleaning. If you're in the market for a long-lasting anal vibe or you share your toys regularly, I recommend the Tantus products available at the Empire. If you're looking for a toy for strictly personal use, however, the value and flexibility of this toy can hardly be beat, and I highly recommend it.

I have to agree with the other person who said it's almost impossible to get the SpectraGel inserted. You'd better have incredible muscle control, to be able to let something so flimsy inside (or be flexible & ready to reach down and insert the first ridge or two by hand).
Once you've gotten it inside, then things get good. It's got a great design, and it works really well for beginners because they can insert it as far or as little as they want.
