Though the latest edition of this Empire Best-Selling series breaks no new ground in erotica, HOT SHOWERS 6 is nevertheless steamy, sinful entertainment. Having reviewed volumes two and five with nothing but the words of praise, I have to admit to being ever so slightly disappointed with this outing. On an objective level, this edition probably deserves no less of a rating than its predecessors, yet I found it to be lacking just a wee bit. The last three scenes don't measure up to the first two, so HOT SHOWERS 6 ends on a quieter bang than expected.

Following the philosophy, "if it ain't broke, why fix it?" director Clive McLean gives audiences just what they expect in superb, lesbian couplings displayed in high quality video and audio. Each vignette is self-contained, and the director allows the actresses and settings to tell the story without the need for a narrator.

Rebecca and Chance appear in "Jail Birds," which of course takes place in a prison cell and shower. Chance is a very attractive African-American performer and a shameless exhibitionist who is perfectly comfortable showing off her body under cascading water. The equally cute Rebecca is also uninhibited and seems to love giving cunnilingus to no end. Their scene-ending pussy slam is pretty darn watchable, and well-directed in alternating close-ups and medium shots. These two girls are without a doubt the best performers of the bunch.

However, my favorite coupling involves Cameron and Judy, who have a wet and wild session in a gym shower and gym mat in "Wet Me, Kiss Me." Anyone who has had the chance to see Cameron in Red Light District's SWALLOW MY PRIDE or SOMEONE'S DAUGHTER are well aware at how good this newcomer in oral and vaginal sex during boy-girl scenes. Well, I'm somewhat dismayed to report that she is not quite as orally fixated when paired with a female. Though she really appears to enjoy her time with Judy, Cameron doesn't eat pussy, despite some close-call moments when her mouth is within close proximity to her partner's lower lips. Nevertheless, their scene is still incredibly arousing. The loudly orgasmic Judy eats her partner out lovingly, and Cameron returns the favor in a spoon-positioned finger-fuck. It's also quite a thrill to see Cameron dominate Judy by pulling on her hair and sticking a couple digits up her quim. (Maddeningly, the scene fades to black just as the two girls exchange soft kisses.)

The movie lags a bit when Samy and Melanie retreat outside for a "Rooftop Romp" They both do each other in the shallow waters of a kiddie pool which must have taken hours to direct, given the fact that outdoor Hollywood background gets noticeably darker before the scene ends. Thin, blonde Samy is the more aggressive of the two, eating and fingering Melanie's clam heartily. She's also pretty damn skilled at wielding a dildo on her partner, who lies on her upper back in a pile-driving position.

Felix and Mandy have a simple, straightforward affair in "Cum In My Tub." Their segment begins arousingly enough with a lot of making out under a steamy shower, and plenty of upper body licking. However, there is an over-emphasis on slowly paced dildo fucking which minimizes their bodily contact. Both brunettes are very cute and all natural (save for a few tattoos which are given minimum camera exposure) and would be perfect candidates for the next BARELY LEGAL edition (assuming they haven't appeared in that long-running series already).

Mary Carey and Stormy participate in a scene called "Staying Afloat" which, contrary to the title, doesn't take place on a blow-up raft or a waterbed at all. Instead, we see Mary Carey take a long shower in a red room while Stormy watches with lust. Though Mistress Mary looks mighty fine getting all soaped up in the shower, it's Stormy who drew my attention with her dreamy eyes, beautiful smile and kick-ass body. Locked in a sixty-nine position, she pokes Mary with her fingers while Miss Carey buries her face in Stormy's muff The action isn't all that wild, and I was sorely disappointed in the fact that the girls don't swap spit at any time throughout their session. However, it's not enough to bring down the overall above-average rating of the film.

My only complaints about this otherwise consistently well-produced series is the lack of numerical variety in every scene. A ménage a trois or foursome here and there would be much appreciated among faithful viewers: I certainly would collect every edition if more girls would get involved in a single vignette. Other than my selfish desires, I really have no significant complaints about HOT SHOWERS #6.

Like previous editions, the Bonus Materials are generally good, though not exceptional. The video profile on director Clive McLean is the same featurette available on other Hustler discs, and the Slide Show and Previews are all the usual, standard fare. Oddly, we get a Behind The Scenes look at HOT SHOWERS #2 (not available on the original DVD for #2), which I enjoyed since I own the original disc, and should be of interest to serious collectors of this popular series. (In fact, watching Jenna Haze in her excerpted scenes gave me an itch to give #2 a repeated look.)

HOT SHOWERS 6 is everything you expect from the Hustler name brand. You just can't go wrong with their products.

I loved this. Clive is a video genius. I bought this after I saw Mary Carey on "The Howard Stern Show" in her schoolgirl outfit. The cover said, "Mary", and there she was on the back of it.
