Jerome Tanner's "Lady Luck" is the story of how what "cums" around, goes around. I love story-driven, comedic porn the same way I love low budget cinema because the filmmakers and actors try so hard to make a good movie, you can't help but love it. This is a good DVD for couples who want to see other hot couples having sex while ironic comedy reverberates through a thin story. I am a firm believer that someday a genius director will finally make a hardcore movie that truly blurs the line between mainstream films and hardcore pornography, but as much potential as it had, "Lady Luck" is not that movie. It is, however, a good, fun porno with some of the industries finest talent doing some pretty decent acting and making sex look damn good.
The film starts out with one of the best split-screen opening credit sequences I have seen, clearly identifying both, the male and female cast members. We see Dale DaBone in his office scratching off a lottery ticket. He wins five hundred dollars and moments later a big screen television. Overjoyed he gives his secretary, Kelsey, his winning ticket and the day off before going home to surprise his wife. I won't run through the whole story because there are twists and turns around every corner in this movie and they are amusing and entertaining.
The next scene involves Dillon Day and Claudia Adkins and is very good. She is gorgeous and has a very sexy European voice. They have some nice sweaty sex, which will appeal to couples before he gives her an intense anal workout. This is a hot scene followed by a plot twist.
Next up, we have Nina Ferrari who appears on the cover, which makes little sense because she is only in this one scene. Note to directors: if you have a story-driven movie, make a movie-style cover that will appeal to fans of such. The cover is misleading and gives the impression that Nina Ferrari is the star of the movie, but this is a minor complaint because her scene with Brett Rockman on a shaky park bench is great and at times the bench and the actors look like they are about to bust up. This scene too, fits into the story and is pretty funny with Dale DaBone's character falling upon hard times to comedic effect. Several more great scenes follow with Joel Lawrence and Kelsey engaging in some steamy, living room couch anal acrobatics, which displays some foul language from Kelsey and some good editing. Two more hot sex scenes follow with Salina Del Ray and Dillon Day and the final one with Dale DaBone and Dru Hurlie, who is very cute and a pretty decent actress.
Overall, it's a decent porn flick with an interesting premise, which is well acted, especially from Dale DaBone. I would strongly recommend it to couples who want to watch something story oriented that isn't too deep or rough. It's a safe and sexy flick with a wide range of sex acts and positions. The actors and actresses are all pretty attractive, especially Nina Ferrari and Claudia Adkins. The movie delivers on many levels and is a DVD worth owning.
The video quality is good and well-lit. The audio was fine all the way through with the exception of the park scene, which seemed a little hazyy.
The extras are part of why I liked the disc. There is a photo gallery and a wonderful, but short "behind the scenes" documentary that made me laugh pretty hard at Joel Lawrence trying to balance on the edge of a couch during a sex scene. All DVDs should come with a "behind the scenes" documentary because everyone wants to know what it's like to make an adult movie and enjoys having an inside look at how each film is made. My favorite feature, which will hopefully become a standard in the industry, is a sub-chapter menu that allows the viewer to jump not only to their favorite scene, but allows the viewer jump to the specific sex act of their choice during the scene. This is an incredibly brilliant feature and whoever came up with the idea should be rewarded.
