Making an adult version of
Alice In Wonderland is a pretty good idea, and selecting Allysin Chaynes to play Alice is as about as close to perfect casting as one is going to get in the adult film world. Why, oh why, then did I find New Sensations'
Wonderland to be such a disappointment?
Perhaps it was the cheesy special effects. New Sensations is a company that usually prides itself on providing nothing but the best, but here we have some really bad green screen effects (I've seen better on daytime soap operas) combined with a film that takes place primarily on a large soundstage. Sure, director Jim Enright has dressed the set up with some colorful items, but between the poor makeup applied to many of his characters and the lame settings in which they must conduct that action, I didn't exactly feel swept away to another world while I was watching
Wonderland.
But there are some good points, so let's get to those. First of all, Allysin Chaynes is very cute...and even moreso when she's put in a mini-skirt and a pair of white thigh-highs, as she is throughout this film. There's a scene where Allysin gets to have sex with Kevin Cosler in which she rides him reverse cowgirl - and it looks incredibly hot because of the great outfit that Allysin is wearing.
Secondly, some of the dialogue is quite creative. As in Lewis Carroll's original tale, most of the spoken word from the characters is in rhyme - but of course, the difference here is that the rhyme tends to be very naughty. Additionally, Allysin takes time to comment on the ridiculousness of what is happening to her, which provides the viewer with a few additional laughs.
The best scene in the movie is saved for last as (a barely recognizable) Randy Spears, who is playing the White Rabbit, gets it on with Allysin in a scene which finishes off in a great facial. Most of the other scenes in the film are pretty much hit and miss, including a very silly scene with Evan Stone and Bridgette Kerkove that loses its sex appeal because of how goofy Evan looks in his get-up.
As with most releases from New Sensations, the quality of the audio and video are above average, as is the quality of the bonus features. There is a short, behind the scenes segment which is really a montage of action on the set, a photo gallery, plus previews and interviews with various adult stars (not related to this movie) on the "B" side of the DVD.
But while it's not a bad DVD, I can't help but think
Wonderland was an opportunity missed by the creators of the film. It is not on par with other adult film attempts at the same subject area, including Vivid's
Babylon and Sin City's
White Rabbit. Therefore,
Wonderland comes recommended only to die-hard Allysin fans and those of you who can't resist seeing a petite little blonde fucking a big white rabbit.
