If you would have told me that a movie about fashion designers would become one of the most heralded and most awarded adult films of all time, I probably would have laughed at you - but that's exactly what we get with
The Fashionistas, John Stagliano's latest movie which impresses not so much for its storyline (which is still fairly good, by the way), but because the sex is so intense that it's hard to get through this movie the first time without taking a break to recharge one's batteries (if you know what I mean!).
While the movie features some hot women including Belladonna and Taylor St. Clair, the real driving force behind
The Fashionistas is Rocco Siffredi, who gives one of the best performances I have seen by a male actor in an adult video in the last couple of years. He plays a European fashion designer named Antonio, who has come to the states in search of someone to come up with and produce a new line of fetish wear that will be unlike anything else the world has ever seen.
Rocco has been sent a DVD by a group of designers known as "The Fashionistas", who are headed up by Taylor St. Clair. Taylor wants to attach her clothing line to Antonio's prestigious name, but Antonio is more interested in the hidden Easter Eggs that are on the DVDs that are being sent to him - Eggs that have been put there by Belladonna, a somewhat shy employee of Taylor's who, as it turns out, engages in some very kinky fun in her spare time.
Fans of fetish wear and light bondage are sure to enjoy the sex in
The Fashionistas, almost all of which contains some form of spanking and/or bondage. The opening scene finds Rocco teaming up with Kate Frost, shortly after he spys on her - and watches her get some mild punishment from Taylor St. Clair. Later in the movie (which is over four and a half hours long, by the way!) Taylor teams up with Belladonna for a lesbian coupling that is one of the hottest I have seen between two women on film in quite some time.
The second half of the movie takes place primarily in a fetish club, where most of the movie's performers get involved in part of a large fetish orgy that is going on in one of the back rooms. For the film's climax, Rocco is led into one of the back rooms by Taylor, Chelsea Blue and Gia - who tie him up and have their way with him. During the action, the girls leave the room and Belladonna sneaks in. Rocco finally figures out that Belladonna is the one who has been hiding all the wild fetish footage on the DVDs he has been watching, and the two engage in a hot coupling that includes plenty of naughty anal action.
Although I didn't enjoy the second half of
The Fashionistas nearly as much of the first (mostly because I felt the story had been abandoned for the sex - a point which other viewers may find appealing), there's no denying that this movie (and DVD package as well) is a top-notch effort from Evil Angel and worth every penny of its asking price. In addition to the movie (which was shot on film and transferred nicely to the digital format),
The Fashionistas DVD set includes the soundtrack to the movie on CD, and a bonus DVD full of such extras as a look at the making of the film, bonus sex footage from the movie, pre-production material, bloopers and much more. The two movie discs (the film is so long the movie had to be broken up onto two different DVDs) also contain their fair share of extras, including filmographies, cast listings, an extended look at the fashion show that opens the film, photo galleries and a feature-length commentary track by writer and director John Stagliano, producer Tricia Devereaux, Taylor St. Clair and Belladonna. All three DVDs also contain at least one hidden Easter Egg - a nice touch since hidden Eggs were a plot point in the feature.
Both one of the more impressive adult features and one of the more impressive adult DVD packages I've seen released to date,

This film pushed most of my buttons. It had just the right amount of tease, fetish temptation, fantasy, erotic imagery and gorgeous women. The production values are very high. This and the other
Fashionistas films are amongst the best adult erotic films made, there is very little else out there which even compares. With most adult films I skip many of the scenes because they are so lame, with the
Fashionistas films I can't make it all the way through one scene before I'm over the top. This is one series actually worth expanding with new titles (hint, hint).
