Perhaps the most popular vignette series of its kind, Hustler Video's incredibly successful BARELY LEGAL series has a fan-following to match that of the Grateful Dead. (Rest in peace, Jerry.) This titillating title has always promised viewers the newest and most carnal talents, and the situational sexual set-ups give the hardcore more of an edge than what's generally available from studios like VCA, Vivid, Wicked and Metro. For this semi-fan, standout volumes of this venerable series include Cheyenne Silver's turn as a babysitter seduced by Kyle Stone in #20, and Jenna Haze as a co-ed who hits on her older sister's boyfriend. Anyone who considers himself a fan of these ladies, should put their appearances in this title at the top of their list.
Now approaching its "thirtysomething" editions, BARELY LEGAL is, however, getting a bit old. The freshness of the set-ups have fallen into the nondescript, and with the exception of covergirl Alexis Malone, Asian sexpot Keilani, and the blonde team-up of Christine and Julianna (last names are frustratingly absent from the cast list), the girls aren't the stellar seductresses spoiled porn fans have come to expect. Although serving up three good to great scenes out of five isn't that bad of an erotic ratio when it comes to any average porno, I think viewers deserve a bit more from a series as highly regarded as this one. Luckily, Hustler has kept up their high video and audio quality standards, though the extras (a slide show, a bunch of trailers, a "Behind The Scenes" featurette which focuses on BARELY LEGAL #25, some advertisements, and a director's profile which has been shown in countless other Hustler titles) are average, at best.
Following in the tradition of previous volumes, number thirty-one features five vignettes: "Trespassing Pussy" spotlights a tepid one-on-one between Nika and Trent; "Breakfast With Head" pairs up Alexis and Tony; "Motel Muscle" spotlights a fun little romp between Keilani (misspelled as Kaylani) and Nick; "My First Move" is a first-rate threesome starring Christine, Juliana and Joey Ray; and finally "We Fucked Into The Night" ends the movie with a straight scene starring Honey and Jordan. Shockingly, there is no anal sex going on in any of these scenes, which will certainly disappoint those who demand more lewdness in their porn. There's nothing to really separate these set-ups than what you normally get from any vignette production. The women are fresh and young, of course, but that is a minimum requirement in a title like this.
In the case of the first vignette, the set-up is just plain silly: Nika is about to eat lunch by herself (because her boyfriend got lost) on private property when a groundskeeper confronts her. She admits to having sex there the night before, and then she gets all hot and horny for him. They do it on a bench in all sorts of positions and he cums on her face and neck, missing her gaping mouth by a country mile. Though she has a very nice body, the harsh, outdoor lighting does not flatter Nika's acned face. This is one segment which could benefit from a little Vaseline on the lens.
The second vignette with Alexis is much better, if only because she is a more sensual performer and, besides, looks great naked in a loose robe. The central idea of her scene involves a weekend opportunity to fuck her boyfriend's younger brother, but the build-up leading to their joining is unceremoniously quick. There is nothing out of the ordinary in terms of sexual acts is concerned, other than a few extended minutes of her and Tony masturbating while seated across from each other before he cums on her face. Still, this is one of the more arousing scenes among the bunch, and will assist in self-satisfaction.
"Motel Muscle" takes place, naturally, in a tacky motel room. Golden skinned Leilani has a petite figure that is utilized as human fuck-doll for Nick, a long-haired cowboy type. Again, there is no butt-play here, but the oral splooge shot is what really makes this scene worth your time and attention. She takes a big wad of the white stuff in her mouth, and it spills off her lips and down her cheek. Remarkably, she still looks cute good enough to eat!
As mentioned before, the "My First Move" scene was the one that really grabbed me. Two extremely cute blondes are sleeping on the floor of their new place, waiting for the furniture to arrive. Predictably, a moving man comes in and they greet him with some oral and vaginal loving. The two-on-one blowjob is always a joy to see, and these bi-babes have such a relaxed attitude about sex that watching the slow, steady action was just plain fun. Sure, I've seen better threesomes in adult, but Christine and Juliana had me thoroughly charmed.
The final vignette sets up housekeeper Honey with her boss Jordan. It takes place outside of a hot tub, and the set-up implies that these two do indeed fuck into the night. (Their environment gets lighter than darker than lighter again to show the passage of time.) Hearty oral work and sexual positionings on behalf of both parties ending with an oral orgasm give this movie a good, but rather unexceptional ending.
Though BARELY LEGAL #31 will still help you get off, I think director Clive McLean should take a break from the series so he can develop some fresher ideas and give us more memorable erotic content. This edition is for ardent, hardcore collectors only.
