Commentary: Now either I'm screwed up, or this disc was mislabeled as well (as Kobe's Tie)! I place the disc in
with "Bonus Footage" facing up, and it's shows the movie, and vice versa. From this point forward, I'm going to
assume that this is how they're supposed to be labeled. So if you want to see the bonus footage, place the disc
in the player so that the words bonus footage actually face the laser. There, I've said it.
This Paul Thomas feature is the story of a cheating husband and the wife who gets revenge on him. Unlucky
Randy Spears is caught in the act (with two beauties by the way) by an early arriving Racquel. She offs the sorry
bastard and his two companions, subjecting him to wandering that nether world know as Purgatory for his
misdeeds. Along the way, he encounters all sorts of lewd behavior on the earth he now walks. Invisible to all but
his compatriots in heaven's waiting room, he seeks to make things right. Sort of an X-rated Scrooge thing going
here. His guiding light, Asia Carrera, tries to steer him in the right direction in order that he may earn his wings,
and take the next escalator up to doggy heaven. Strange? You bet your ass. I don't claim to be the sharpest
knife in the drawer, but it took me quite a bit of time to figure out where this movie was headed, where it had
been, and why the hell I was straining my brain while watching a porno flick!
I'm sorry, but that's all the plot you're gonna hear about because my fucking head hurts. We all know Mr.
Thomas produces top notch features that are truly movies, and not your run of the mill sloppy fare that there is
way too much of, but this was insane!
The action in this flick cums from some very good performances from Racquel Darrian, as well as Asia Carrera,
and some scattered glimmers of brightness here and there as well. Racquel has some solo action that showcases
her simply fabulous body, as well as a scene with Vince that made me have some sinful thoughts myself! The solo
scene features her in her bathtub pleasing herself with her hand, as she glistens with her bath water. The water
served to highlight her delicious shape, and she worked her little patch nicely.
Racquel's scene with Vince was also a winner featuring her nice two handed twist and tug blow job, as well as
stunning camera angles that show her being eaten from underneath, and behind by Vince. Quite the quintessential
quim she has there!
Asia has a hot scene with some poker playing dudes that end up stripping her of her clothes, as well as her
husband! She takes on the two lucky gents, sucking one and getting screwed by the other in all manner of
positions. We see that she gets offed as well, and that's how she ends up with Randy in Purgatory.
Other than that, there is some really nice double headed dildo action that occurs during the opening scene, a
scene on top of a car, and in an orgy at a motel/bar. In the credits, Doc Johnson is thanked for supplying the
toys. Must have been a bit stingy that month, as I'm sure that dildo is the same one used in every scene!
You may enjoy the action in this flick, as it reminded me of some older porn fare that featured loosely held
together scenes, and a heaping of sex scenes populated by relatively unknown lasses. Some of the "mini"-scenes
in this flick don't end with a pop shot, and I always lament that style of shooting, so I was less than enthralled.
I've tried to write this review to give you an idea of what the DVD was like. All over the place and yet at the
same time, nowhere at all (?!).
What can I say? The acting was all done superbly, and the sex was good, but this jumping around, switching
from film to video, and the degree of inference was just way too much. Watching porno is supposed to be fun
godamn it!!!
From a DVD perspective: This film to DVD transfer was done well. There was no artifact or pixelation and the
cinematography was admirable. Ralph Parfait strikes again in terms of camera angles and camera work. Even some
of the less inspired scenes were enhanced by his artful camera coddling.
The sound was well done, nothing spectacular though. It was quite easy to hear all the dialog, except for the
very first introductory scene. Remember, I said easy to hear. Understanding what the hell they are trying to get
across to the viewer is a whole other topic!
The extras were stellar. This is the second 4 hour Vivid piece I've reviewed, and a lot of the extras were the
same as on Kobe's Tie, but you will notice some different scenes here and there. It's really a treat to have all that
extra footage to play around with. I really enjoyed the out takes and bloopers. Much better than any "Blooper"
VHS I had seen in the past. If you've got a partner that's a bit timid about watching porn, show her/him the flip
side first. They'll get a kick out of it, and might just want to see how it looks when the performers don't fuck up,
they just fuck!
Intangibles: Good sex, great acting, and superb production values. I really can't tell you just how good all the
camera work was, and how much you get to see during this flick. I know what you're saying. "You can see
everything in a porno flick! What the hell is he talking about?!!!" I mean to say that the camera catches each
scene from the ideal angle. You're never blocked out by a hand, or a shadow, or a swinging pair of nuts! An
enormous amount of work went into the production of this DVD. It's just that it really drove me crazy watching
it!!! Too cerebral for me!
If you do get it, I suggest limbering up the Triple F (Fast Forward Finger), and skipping right to the meat of this
one. No bonus star for this. One aspirin for me.

This puppy is all about Racquel Darrien.
She is one of the most beautiful women ever to work

The plot has to do with her catching

The video is adequate but, because it's a Paul Thomas
feature, everyone sounds like they're in
the bottom of a well. Your home movies have better
sound. As usual with Vivid features, there is a very
nice package of extras. One of the extras on this disc
is part of a very hot lesbian 3-way with Diana Lauren that
for some inexplicable reason was cut from the DVD
of "Ancient Secrets of the Kama Sutra."
But the only real reason to buy this disc is, of course,
Racquel. (Notice how I keep coming back to that?)

DVD Features:The backgrounds are different, but the basic layout is the same. As always, I like the 'Meet the Girls' segment. It's a nice bit of work promoting the girls. While you get a number of short scenes in the 'Bad Girls' and 'Intel Sex Game' areas, they get higher marks for creativity than practicality. Sorry, but working your way through a number of cells to see a two minute cut scene just doesn't play well on the home set. Maybe if there was a way to just play the sex scenes back to back. That would be cool. The previews, as always, are nice.
DVD EXTRA MATERIAL SIDE TWO
Like all the new Vivid DVDs, this one has tons of bonus stuff on side two. Bloopers, trailers and bonus mini scenes abound. Great quantity, good to excellent quality. My only complaint, as before, is that there is no easy way to get to all of it. I'm sure it plays nicely on the PC, but on the home entertainment center, it's a little distracting.
DVD EXTRA GRADE- B, Solid, and nearly perfect. A few of the bugs get worked out and this will be the standard other DVDs will have to meet for bonus material.
REVIEW
I was all set to do this open on the return of Racquel Daririan and compare how she looks now to how she looked the last time I reviewed her. There is just one small problem. I don't think I have ever reviewed a Racquel film before. One thing I can say is that she looks as beautiful as ever on the cover. Does she still have the on screen magic that has made her one of the most popular porn stars of the 90's? I guess it's up to Paul Thomas to answer that question. One quick note, before the credits even finish, the picture quality on this DVD is fantastic. No way a video looks this crisp.
Racquel opens at a long dining table. She gets up and leaves her friends, but apparently, we don't need to know why at first. We cut right to Randy Spears having his dick sucked by Emily while cuter than Hell Ember Haze masturbates nearby. The gunshots launch us into a very strange little plot. Randy seems to be trapped in some form of Purgatory. (Another Emily I believe.) There is a little too much going on at once here, but Ember is clearly worth the time. With all the action going on, poor Randy can't get any. His wife is off having a relationship with Vince Voyeur, and the little nuggets he used to bang are busy with other studs. Spears and Carrera do a fine job with the dialog. Racquel looks fantastic and shows more excitement in her scenes that I can ever remember seeing her. Some of the scenes jump around way too much, particularly during the first Asia scene. Dee, Racquel and Asia give the best sexual moments, but Ember and Claudia are nothing to sneeze at either. Technically, this film is quite solid, with great sound a picture. The cast is beautiful, and the sexual heat well above average. There is an interesting story that will have some appeal for couples. For me, I can't say I have ever enjoyed Racquel more than I did in this movie.
