My Plaything: Carmen Luvana could have been one of the best interactive titles to date, were it not for two big problems. The first of these is that once again, as has been the case with many interactive sex DVDs, instead of real cumshots, we get digitized ones. The other problem is that the audio is quite inconsistent on this DVD - sounding great in the main menu and during other segments, and all but inaudible in other sections. It's a shame because the DVD is otherwise well-designed and Carmen is a cutie, but the decision to go with faked cumshots and the failure in the audio department make this DVD only worthwhile if you're a die-hard Carmen Luvana fan.

There are basically four sections in the interactive experience, with each of those sections giving the user a number of options from which to choose.

The "Tease" section gives viewers the option of watching Carmen play with her tits, ass or pussy, with two angles available in each of those options. Carmen is decked out in some sexy white lingerie in this portion of the DVD, but this is also the portion of the disc where the audio quality is abysmal - and you'll have to really crank up the volume to hear what she is saying.

The "Masturbate" allows users to select from Carmen using her own fingers, using a purple "pearl rabbit" vibe, using a large flesh-colored dildo, or using a pink jelly dildo on her pussy. She's wearing a red plaid skirt in this section and is sitting around a bunch of stuffed animals, which gives her that "young schoolgirl" look that many fans love. Users will also be able to choose from a "Naughty" or "Nice" mode, plus have a "Cum on Cue" option that will take them directly to the climax.

In the "Foreplay" section, viewers will be given the following options: Handjob, Blowjob, Fingers, Tongue or Vibrator - once again being given the option of having Carmen be "Naughty" or "Nice", and once again being given the "Cum on Cue" option. The problem here is that the climaxes of both the Handjob and Blowjob are obviously digitized, and the only climax that looks close to real is the Blowjob climax in the "Naughty" mode, where the guy appears to come inside Carmen's mouth, although I'm pretty sure that was just spit that she allowed to leak out of her mouth and not actual cum.

The final section is the "Sex" section, which gives you the ability to fuck Carmen in your choice of positions - Missionary, Doggie, Cowgirl or Reverse Cowgirl. Most of the 2nd angles available here are merely side views, rather than something you would actually see if "you" were screwing Ms. Luvana. This is one of the few sections on the DVD where the audio sounds a little better (although not as good as it sounds on the main menu and in some of the bonus material), but once again, each and every cumshot is fake.

There's also a bonus section on the disc, which contains such extra material as a striptease with Carmen; Carmen riding a Sybian (which is also interactive, and allows you to choose the heat level and when she climaxes); an interview with Carmen; outtakes from the filming of the DVD; a photo gallery; and thirteen trailers for other Digital Sin DVDs, including their My Plaything discs.

Even though there are some disappointments with this disc - don't be fooled into thinking that this isn't worth a look. Overall, this is still a high quality disc and superior to many other interactive DVDs out there. However, the audio problems are kind of inexcusable, especially for a company as prestigious as Digital Sin...and as for the faked cumshots, I continue to pray that a studio out there will give us an interactive DVD where all the cumshots are real. Viewers want the sex to be virtual...not the pop-shots!

I like interactive sex videos and think the My Plaything series is the best of them. This one features a cute and sexy young woman who gives a very good performance, a nice change from the older big name stars.

My only complaint is the new menu system. They changed it so that the buttons are in a black row at the top and bottom of the screen. A good idea to get the menus off the video, but they used dark gray text which makes the menus very difficult to read, maybe impossible depending on how your TV is adjusted. I had to adjust mine to see them.

One odd thing is that there is no "first person" angle for the cowgirl scene, you can only view it from the side. It is the first I have seen which includes a hand job option. Anal fans be warned that there is none on this DVD. Otherwise, it features a good variety of toys and positions, plus several extra features including the Sybian. The outtakes are kind of odd, since they show no sex - just the actress messing up her lines. Maybe not the best in the series, but if you like interactive sex it is worth buying.
