It's rare that I get surprised by the quality of an adult title. Usually, one can make a pretty good judgment based on the box cover, cast and director...and I have to admit the prognosis for
Art School Sluts didn't look very good. I mean, what's up with that
horribly designed box cover...and who is this guy Eon McKai, anyway? And let's be honest, VCA - once king of the adult release - hasn't really put out a great movie in a long, long time.
But there was one thing about
Art School Sluts that made me want to check it out anyway: goth girls. Yes, I'm still a sucker for busty, cheerleader-types, but there's just something about the goth look that's always turned me on. I imagine it's the same reason so many women are drawn to the "bad boy" types - there's a sense of danger about a goth girl...and perhaps the sense that such a girl would really take control in the bedroom.
So with all my reservations put aside, I decide to give
Art School Sluts a chance...and thank god I did, because it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable adult movies I've watched all year.
To start off, there is no reason to adjust your TV set. VCA controls the vertical...VCA controls the horizontal! I'm pointing this out because Eon McKai has filmed the movie as if it were an old 80's videotape that you might pick up off the shelf. Things start off with the old version of the VCA Pictures logo, followed by the old anti-censorship ad - which the movie fast-forwards for you! The look of the movie often appears like a worn-out videotape as well...sometimes with lines rolling over the screen, sometimes with the "tracking" not quite set right (for those of you who never lived through the days of trying to get the tracking perfect on a rented VHS tape, be thankful!).
Although
Art School Sluts features several sexy girls, the main star here is Keiko - who does a great job in portraying both the goth "look" and the goth "attitude". In the opening scene, she is speeding in a car while Lili Anne tries to make out with her from the passenger's seat. The car crashes, but we see the two girls making out in the smoldering wreckage.
The rest of the movie details Keiko's experiences at art school - beginning with a wild scene between student Katja Kassin and teacher Kyle Stone, while all the other students watch! Katja gets standing doggy and missionary in this scene, as well as some anal in the reverse cowgirl position. Things conclude with a nice pop-shot that lands both in Katja's mouth and on her face.
Keiko returns to action in the very next scene, which begins as a girl/girl encounter with Felix Vicious, but soon turns into a three-way as Talon joins in on the fun. Both girls get to take on Talon's cock in this segment, which concludes with him jerking a load into Keiko's mouth, who then cum-swaps it with Felix.
If there is one scene that doesn't quite live up to its potential, it's the next to last one in which one of Keiko's art teachers (whom I'll jokingly refer to as "Rooster Boy," due to his spiked mohawk) tries to seduce Brooklyn - but winds up watching as Talon is the one who actually gets to fuck her. The main problem with this segment are the pop-shots - in which Talon begins to cum too early (pulling out of her pussy and unable to hold it back, resulting in missing the opportunity to cum on Brooklyn), followed by "Rooster Boy" simply jerking off onto his own hand. Actually, a guy cumming on himself might be a turn-on for any females watching this - but trust me ladies, it's not what guys want to see in their porn.
Keiko returns for the final scene, which teams her up with new male talent James Deen - who kind of reminded me of an adult version of
The OC's Adam Brody. The highlight here is watching Keiko getting some cock in her ass, as she takes anal in both the doggy and reverse cowgirl positions.
For a VCA DVD, there's a nice number of bonus features on this release, starting with a feature-length commentary track from director Eon McKai and a few others who were involved in the movie, including starlet Keiko. There's also an 11-minute Behind The Scenes featurette, as well as a section in which the director comments about each girl in the movie and why they got chosen for this project. Trailers for

Art School Sluts showed a kind of creativity that is sadly lacking in the vast majority of porn releases these days. Filmed like an old 80's title, it reminded me of how good many of those older titles used to be - and the ideas that went into a lot of them, even if most of them were very low budget. You have never seen an adult movie quite like this before. Forget the soft focus, and airbrushed imagery of most contemporary porn. Eon McKai tears the roof off all of that. This stuff looks up to the minute. Stylish. Gritty. And super-charged with hot sex. Even the soundtrack is edgy. A smart mix of drum 'n' bass, and shards of big-beat...

Somehow McKai has populated this underground world of auto erotica, and voyeuristic intention, with what looks like real modern paintings (thanks to Art Director Vena Virago). There is also talk of art. Humorous riffs on both the process of art versus the process of porn... But if that's too much thinking for you, let's get to some of the sexual highlights....
A young (bandaged) ingenue named KEIKO seems to be the star of the movie. After a strange car crash, Keiko goes into a (hair) pie eating lesbian scene with Liliane. A must for all lesbo-ass-licking fans. No punches are pulled here. This is in-your-face stuff...
After a strange art lecture, and while the art-class watches, a sweaty, sleazy art-teacher (played by the frighteningly bizarre KYLE STONE) bangs KAYJA KASSIN on the teacher's desk. Did I say the Art Kids are watching? Well they are. But Kyle Stone isn't swayed, and nails Katja like a steam-driven jackhammer. It's gnarly. But you can't look away. Especially as Katja oohhs and aaahs with an Eastern European accent.

Perrhaps my favorite scene features the hung-stud with the MOHAWK. I'm not sure of his name, but Mohawk is clever and hilarious. He seems to be both the master of funny lines, and rope bondage.
