The Prisoner of Sex is a rarity in the adult film world in that it weaves a story so interesting and exciting that the sex is actually a distraction to the plot, rather than the other way around. Based on the 60's BBC series, "The Prisoner", about a secret agent trapped against his will in a community known only as "The Village",
The Prisoner of Sex features Mike Horner (playing himself), trapped in a community of ex-porn stars known as "The Colony". It's a great idea for a porn movie, and one that was used previously in a Kaylan Nicole film entitled "Prisoner of Love". In that film, the premise was good, but never used to it's full potential, and only the sexual situations bailed the movie out. In this movie, director Cash Markman knows his television history well, and gives us a great re-creation of "The Prisoner" story. Unlike his other parodies, this one is more serious, better acted and demands (at least in this viewer's opinion) that a sequel be made as soon as possible!
I have stated in other reviews that Cash Markman is making the best porn movies in the business right now, and this movie only reaffirms my opinion of him. Markman knows the material is working, and even gives us one less sex scene than average (there are only four in this movie, instead of the standard five) just so he can spend a little more time on the story. And what a story it is! Accurately following the pilot episode of "The Prisoner", which was entitled "Arrival", Mike Horner takes those famous steps down the hallway to the secretary of his unseen boss, just as Patrick McGoohan did in the opening credits of each episode. He slams his resignation down on the desk, which says simply "Resigned" on the envelope ("Prisoner" buffs know that the real letter McGoohan slammed down actually said "Personal - By Hand", but we'll forgive Markman for a small mistake, if indeed it was a mistake at all on his part). He heads back home, only to be followed and knocked out by a mysterious gas. Horner awakens in "The Colony", a place where porn stars are sent when they leave the business.
Markman has a lot of fun with "The Colony", filling it with porn stars we have not seen in a while. Look for cameos by Tori Wells, Mark Wallice, and Sharon Mitchell, none of whom, unfortunately, have sex scenes, but it is still fun to see them again. One of the porn stars in the community who does have a sex scene is Randy Spears, who is getting it on with Peach and Kasorn Swan when Horner notices him.
Horner makes his way to the office of Number 3, played by Frank Bukkwyd in one of the best performances I have seen him give in a movie. He seems to perfectly understand the character he is parodying (the character in "The Prisoner" was known as number 2)and the scenes between him and Horner are a lot of fun to watch.
Number 3 shows Horner his past performances in porn, and even tries to lure him with the seductive Danielle Rogers...first by making him watch a threesome between Danielle, Envy and Steve Austin, and later by having Danielle go at Horner one on one. Number 3 is trying to find out why Horner left the business. Horner, on the other hand just wants out of "The Colony", and he plays Number 3's game in order to try to find out more about where he is and how he can get out. The conclusion is one that is fitting of the TV show upon which this movie is based...in other words, Horner is not getting out of "The Colony" in this episode!
You'll notice that I have talked very little about the sex in this movie, and that's because the sex scenes, while well done and erotic, are really secondary to the story going on. This may be a negative for some porn collectors out there, but I for one, praise Markman and all the others involved in this production for providing one of the first adult films I have seen where I wasn't sitting impatiently between the sex scenes waiting for the action to start again.

The Prisoner of Sex provided features that were equal to the movie, this might be one of the best adult DVDs on the market. However, we are really cheated on the features, only getting chapter selection and a photo gallery with stills that are neither erotic or particularly interesting. But the real gem here is Cash Markman's movie. It's a shame that his films are not greeted with more fanfare by both porn fans and the industry. He has been consistently providing entertaining adult films that are both smart and sexy. I can't wait to see what he brings us next!
