Watching Joanna Angel In Action Had Me Burning Up! 3.5 out of 5.00 - Film: 4 Extras: 2 Video: 4 Audio: 4 - 8/5/2005
You've got to give the people over at burningangel.com props for having the chutzpah to call their first-ever DVD release BurningAngel.com: The Movie. That means that every time I refer to the title in this review, I have to mention the website. And that means that every website that sales this film has to mention it too. Nice strategy. So given this marketing ploy, I wasn't in the best of moods when sitting down to watch...you know what. But one look at brunette Joanna Angel changed my mind...and will probably change yours too.

I'm one of those rare beasts. I'm into the "goth" look on chicks, but I'm usually totally turned off by tattoos. Which is certainly a contradiction, since most goth gals are usually sporting a few of them. And Joanna's got at least one plastered right on her arm. Fortunately the rest of her body is damn near perfect...and when I found out that this movie (are you enjoying my ploy of not mentioning the name again?) contained this woman's first-ever on-screen sex scene...and an anal one to boot...I suddenly got very excited about seeing Ms. Angel in action.

But this DVD isn't all about sex...although that's its primary purpose. It's also about introducing the viewer to some up and coming punk rock bands: Eighteen Visions; Killswitch Engage; My Chemical Romance; Shadows Fall; and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Not being a connoisseur of the punk scene, I have no idea how known or unknown these groups are, but I must say I was pretty surprised by all of them. I guess I was expecting the cliché of a bunch of stoned-out, coke-snorting rocker types, but what the viewer gets is a bunch of fairly intelligent and introspective guys who just happen to make their living making music instead of working in an office cubicle.

The title is nicely paced, giving us a sex scene, then a group interview (all done by Joanna, no less), then a sex scene...and so on. The first scene on the DVD is a threesome between Nancy Jade, Kylee and Johnny Sprite. Both girls are young-looking, heavily tattooed and have more than a few piercings...and not just on their ears. However, I think the appeal of this scene and basically all of the sex scenes on this release is the amateur feel they have to them. The camera work really isn't amateur (although it's far from top-notch), but the performances certainly are...a nice change of pace from the professionally-acted porn scenes I am primarily used to seeing.

Scene Two brings us another heavily-tattooed/heavily-pierced girl by the name of Presley Paige, who has a boy/girl scene with Sleazy Pete...but whom we'll see later in the movie in girl/girl action with Joanna.

Joanna's boy/girl scene is next, and it's a nice one...since at this point in the movie most viewers will be anxious both to see Joanna get naked and see her get it on with someone. For more about the background of how this scene happened, the makers of this DVD have included a small booklet inside the DVD case in which Joanna describes how she went through several volunteers and a location or two before what we see on screen actually transpired. She was taking volunteers?! Damn...that's what I get for spending all my time reviewing porn instead of browsing the industry websites!

Jezebelle Bond has a boy/girl scene with Damien next, which may be the weakest of the five scenes on this disc - if only because Jezebelle is probably the most recognizable girl on this DVD to frequent porn viewers and kind of takes away from the whole "amateur girls in action" feel that the rest of the sex scenes have.

Joanna returns for the final scene - a girl/girl with Presley during which the two women take turns using a large clear dildo on one another, as well as engaging in a lot of kissing and oral.

If there's a downside to BurningAngel.com: The Movie (oops...I said it again...where's my check?!), it's in the bonus material. There's a behind the scenes segment, but sadly it only lasts about two minutes; and the only other bonuses are slide shows for the girls; a production slide show; and four trailers for scenes that are available on the Burning Angel website.

But all in all, not a bad DVD for this company's first release. And did I mention how hot Joanna Angel is?!

This is an incredible DVD. First of all, if you do not know, Joanna Angel is super-cute. Even I, who hates tattoos, find her very attractive. Then the way she conducts the interviews with the bands is really fun...she is really sincere and does it in a very appealing way.

The sex scenes in between are quite cool, especially the scene with Joanna where she takes it in the butt...really nice...I love her! Reading the enclosed booklet about it is hilarious as well. Even with her punk rock image, she carries over an innocence that is very charming. It is a big change from the usual porn and porn stars.

There are some nice extras here as well, such as a behind the scenes segment. You have to see this!
