FRESHNESS, a 2005 release from the usually reliable Vivid group and venerable porn director, Paul Thomas, is a stale, uninspired, forgettable flick that fails to rise to the heights usually expected from porn's elite.
Vivid girl and perennial Howard Stern guest, Savanna Sampson (luckily sans multiple piercings she sported in earlier flicks), stars as the bored, jealous wife of voyeur/husband, Justin Magnum. (Whatever more intricacies there may have been to this plot were lost on me due to the audio levels being so low and dismal throughout this flick. The sound technician (assuming there even was one) must have been holding the microphone in the next zipcode. Even turning my tv sound way up only yielded barely audible mumbling from the cast).
Anyway, as best I could figure out, Savanna returns from a trip to find Justin getting a strip show from busty, sultry, brunette, Mikayla. Savanna is about to smack her hubby upside the head when he explains he was just auditioning her for Savanna to enjoy (I think that is what I heard). Savanna quickly quiets down and wastes no time engaging in some light kissing, fondling and mutual disrobing. The ladies move on to exchange some oral and digital favors and use interesting dildos on each other. Savanna rides Mikayla's dildo reverse-cowgirl style until she climaxes.
To drive home the fact that Justin is a peeping tom and not a cheater, he spies on Roxy Jezel, a decent looking Asian chick with a nice, trim figure and a strange British accent. Roxy manages to service two male companions by an outdoor gazebo. She treats them to some dual hand and mouth action before trading off her tight pussy between them and getting a dual helping of nutjuice on her face as a reward.
Savanna and Justin stay true to their vows of fidelity by pursuing in some nice BJ and doggy-style fucking in the bathtub and then moving on to the bed for some more BJ fun, and fucking in the cowgirl and missionary positions with Savanna getting some husbandly spew on her tight belly. Later, Justin spies on blonde Missy Monroe and her heavily tattooed fuck buddy. Missy and her partner engage in the usual suck-and-fuck routine with some standing 69 action to shake things up a bit.
Finally, Savanna takes on two guys to make her husband jealous (or something). Like the scene with Roxy, Savanna takes on each guy with her pussy and/or mouth but doesn't engage in any DP action or anything too out of the ordinary. At the conclusion, one dude finishes on her face while the other releases on her back.
Bonus features include plentiful chapter stops, direct sexual position access, five bonus scenes, photos, trailers and behind the scenes footage. Although this disc is fairly rich with the trademark Vivid bonus features, neither they nor the main feature are of the top notch quality I would expect from Vivid and Mr. Thomas. The small group of female talent are, in my opinion, only fair in appearance, with Savanna and Mikayla being the standouts. Savanna is an undeniably attractive woman with a full yet firm figure reminiscent of TJ Hart (and I like that she has lost her many distracting piercings) but I found her performance here fairly mundane and perfunctory. The same is true of the other ladies. Although there is some double-team action and some girl-girl fun with toys, I just found the action in FRESHNESS to be uninspired and the female talent beneath my expectations. Although the lighting and videography are competent, as mentioned above, the sound levels were non-existent.
Overall, I was singularly unimpressed with FRESHNESS. Hardcore Savanna Sampson fans should probably add it to their collection but for viewers simply looking for super hot chicks, great action and even better bonus features, there are plenty of other more inspired Vivid offerings to choose from (e.g. HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE and FADE TO BLACK -- both directed by Paul Thomas too, by the way). Check out these other Vivid titles and leave FRESHNESS to get stale on the shelf.
