This DVD was originally released on video as "Hamlet, For The Love of Ophelia" in two parts, with Euro sensation Sarah Young and Christopher (now Christoph) Clark in the starring roles. While Clark has become quite visible in the U.S., Young's work has remained unavailable, except for a few films. She has great fake, big boobs, and is a terrific anal queen. Maybe someday, all of her films will be released over here, but in the meantime, this is her best film available. In any case, having both parts here is a bargain. The drawback is that, although the cover says there are English subtitles, in fact there are none, and the film is in Italian. This is a shame for people who don't speak Italian, as this retelling of Hamlet is inventive and funny. Hamlet's quandary is not "to be or not to be?" But "to or not to fuck?" You really get a sense of how much fun doing theater is.

The film was shot on what looks like a warm summer's day, and the cast seems to be having a genuinely good time. In this retelling, Old Hamlet, played by director Luca Damiano, returns from the grave trying to fuck women himself, but, as a ghost, he can't, so he encourages Hamlet to get together with Ophelia. She resists his advances, however, though she is quite willing to sleep with pretty much everyone else. As Hamlet says at one point, "I am cuckolded even before I am married." So this interpretation pretty much follows Polonius's account of Hamlet in the play, "still harping on my daughter." Eventually, in the best scene of the film, Hamlet and Ophelia do have sex. The story ends tragically. But to take the edge off the violence, Hamlet addresses himself to the camera as an actor, and the camera rolls back to see an audience watching a play. As an interpretation of Shakespeare's play, this is one of the best, though my favorite is "Taming of the Screw", still only on VHS as far as I know. I recommend the DVD even if you don't know Italian. The production values are high. The film is shot in a castle in Italy, and the costumes are all good, supposedly rented from the people who also rented them to Zeffirelli for Mel Gibson's Hamlet. The sex is really hot, and if you like Euro-sluts, you won't be disappointed. There are twelve scenes total, six for each part, with chapter stops for each sex scene.

The first scene begins in Gertrude's bedroom as a three-way lesbian (blonde, brunette), and then intercourse with Claudius (Roberto Malone) and Gertrude (Maeve). Hamlet is off talking to himself throughout the scene. It's pretty funny, and the sex is really good. Maeve is very pretty and uninhibited, and she almost steals the movie form Young. The second scene is with Horatio (Richard Lengin) and Hamlet outside at a brook where they run into three laundry girls (Kristina, IIidko, and Katia L'Arco). They all take turns doing each other.

Then we're back at the castle with Hamlet, Horatio, and a girl doing a hot three-way (the DP is really good), then two more scenes with Hamlet, one with a serving girl, the other with a lady in waiting on the castle ramparts. Both are good, and Clark certainly comes off as a major stud here. Hamlet and Ophelia go off and begin to have sex outside, but the scene is cut off. This is where Part One of the video version ended. It is nice that the two parts have been stitched seamlessly together, but it does seem odd that the scene breaks off so abruptly.

Part Two begins with Hamlet in the Castle on the throne with two girls. Then we learn how Old Hamlet was murdered. Claudius and Gertrude fuck as Old Hamlet sleeps (he goes down on her, licks poison off her pussy and then dies).

Finally, we get to the highlight of the film. Hamlet and Ophelia fuck. This is a really memorable scene, and you can see why Young has been such a hit in Europe. The scene is worth the price of the DVD. Scenes follow with Hamlet, Horatio, and two girls and then with Gertrude and Claudius on the ramparts, but the best is the last, a red haired girl (I wish I knew her name) and Horatio in an actor's wagon. The woman is pretty, but she is especially lewd and lively.

Polonius is played Joe D'Amato, who made "Juliet and Romeo", also released by Tip Top, and worth checking out. Various damsels include Shalimar, Caroline Nash, Vicky, Valenna Matinez, and Tanya La Rivera, Susanna, Lulli, and Jaqueline. As is typical of Tip Top, the transfer is not great, and there are no extras to speak of beyond six previews.

This is one of the best of Tip Top's line of foreign made flicks. It has all the things that make a good movie. Good sets, energetic sex, and oh...group sex (hey, I love group sex!).

The plot is a little different that Shakespeare had in mind, the object being to screw Ophelia instead of obtaining revenge for a dead daddy. And it is subtitled, which can distract from the hot sex. Though the movie begins a little slowly, it revs up pretty good.

My only complaint is the editor of the film must have been a man losing his sight. This movie has some of the worst cuts I've ever seen. I like a little explaination to why people are fucking, but several scenes in this film just jump right in and leave you wondering why they are doing it. But the sex makes up for it. I just would have like a little more intro into the sex scenes, that's all.
