Monika Star's Porn Star Biography
Monika Star, more commonly known as Karina Sinclair, is a Finnish superstar with more aliases than a secret agent. With a legendary, enhanced body and a face perfect for the industry, Star hasn't had trouble locating gigs. She has starred in a variety of hardcore movies, some focusing on double penetration-so she's no stranger to some of the hardest of the hardcore acts. She loves anal sex and likes sex to be rough and wild.
Career
Before moving to America, Star attended university in Finland and earned her Master's Degree in Marketing. She later moved to the United States, met her now ex-husband, and worked as a bill collector. Wanting to earn more money, and having done some nude dancing previously, Star decided to join the adult industry. She made her porn debut in 2002 and has since gone on to appear in more than 60 titles over the course of her career. She has worked with many of the largest studios in the industry, including Vivid, Antigua, Zero Tolerance, New Sensations, and many more.
Notable Films
Star is known for her wild scenes and penchant for anal sex. Movies like Anal Addicts 10 (Northstar Associates), Anal Sluts And Sweethearts 11 (Rosebud), Assficianado 6 (Pleasure Productions), and Gentlemen Prefer Anal (Juicy Entertainment) have cemented Star's status as a porn anal queen. And while she loves men with big dicks and anal sex, she also enjoys the soft feel of a woman. Her lesbian scenes in Pussyman's Decadent Divas 21 (Feline Films) and All About Kira (Vivid) prove that she can enjoy sex no matter who the lover is.
Interviews
Interview With Monika Star - August 22, 2002
On The Set of "Island Rain" in Los Angeles, CA
PornstarEmpire.com: So Where do you hail from?
Monica: Finland, Scandinavia.
Q: What is the difference between the American attitudes about sex and the European attitudes about sex?
Monica: I think both countries have the same amount of sex. Honestly, I thought it would be different here, I thought the men would be more faithful here, but I noticed otherwise. [laughs] Otherwise in Finland it is liberal ... as liberal as it is here. In Finland sex is liberal at any level. Here [in America] sex is kind of a taboo because people go to church, but then there is sex behind the scenes. But people don't really talk about sex openly. In Finland people talk about sex pretty openly, no matter if they are nineteen or fifty, and discuss the issues. But here it seems to be a bit of a taboo especially with the religious people. I can kind of understand it, but I think sex is one of the major needs of a person. Food, and drink, and sex are basic biological needs.
Q: How did you get into adult films?
Monica: I wanted to try modeling about four months ago, and everything I was doing with bikinis and lingerie, the photographers would always ask me if I would go any further. Would I take my top off? Would I take my panties off? I have no problem with nudity. In Finland I have always been in the sauna naked, I have always been naked around my family (we are a very liberal family). So one thing led to another. I took my top off, then I took my panties off, and the next person asked me would you mind using a toy, would you mind playing with yourself? I have not always been very natural in front of the camera, but for me it was kind of liberating experience to be able to do that. Then I got in contact with a couple guys and did the typical blowjob scenes. One of the guys who happened to be doing the blowjob scene happened to be shooting for Peter North, and he gave my pictures to Peter North, and then I ended up working with him, and that's how it started.
Q: Why work in adult films as opposed to, I don't know...a "regular" industry?
Monica: Okay, this is what I feel. I'd love to work in a regular movie. I have no experience whatsoever in the movie industry or acting. I have a business degree. I used to always be intimidated by cameras...so that was not a natural way for me to go about doing it. I started thinking also that to be an actor or actress you need to take acting classes...it's a longer process to get there. You have to go to castings...no one pays you for castings. The line is long and especially with my accent it's not always as smooth for me with the dialogue. So I figured that in this industry I could be good and get to the highest place I could possible get to. Right now I feel more relaxed in front of the camera naked.
Q: Really?
Monica: Isn't that funny?
Q: Is working in adult films hard work?
Monica: It all depends on how many scenes you do per week. It is. I've had weeks were the maximum I've worked is five day weeks. And that was too much. It is mentally hard. The sex part is not mentally hard. The mentally hard part is to give your best. Of course it gets physically hard, too, when you are having sex five days a week. So I did take a step back and I am trying to do only three scenes per week, and that's not hard. There's still that stress about giving your best performance. That's the hardest part of it.
Q: How much acting goes into the sex scenes?
Monica: With me?
Q: With you.
Monica: With me...one percent acting. I actually feel pretty natural in front of the camera, and I don't even think about the crew that surrounds me. I don't see the crew around me, I don't see the cameras, I just get into it. Most of the time. It depends on the chemistry of the people. Some times, some days, there might be a little more acting than others. But if it's a good scene, if they shoot it right, if they let it flow, if its free sex, then there is no acting its just pure sex at its best.
Q: What is the best part about working in adult films?
Monica: Best part...I want to say that the best part is being flexible. I do have my family life, I do have another life. I don't have to work. Even three days a week I can still make decent money, I can have more free time, and of course the money is good. But I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't like it. I truly like my job.
Q: What part of the adult film industry don't you like?
Monica: Sometimes you have to deal with people that you don't have good chemistry with. The part I don't like, actually, is people call you. Its nice when people call you, but you have to establish a relationship over the phone, book the job, get all the specifics, and that is like work outside my work. It's of course required, but it would be nice to have someone else answer my phone. But I like to be personable with people...I like to deal with the person that is hiring me and establish a relationship.
Q: How has working in adult films affected your personal life?
Monica: In no way. Because my ex-husband looked into this field...he's an actor, works in the entertainment industry. So he was very encouraging. He doesn't see anything bad about this. He's very encouraging and helps me, actually. He's kind of my assistant at this time. Actually, he's proud of me...getting this far. But my family doesn't know...my Mom and Dad don't know. I'm going to tell them quite soon. I am hoping to tell them because I don't like lying.
Q: Do you think they'll understand?
Monica: My Mom is going to have a hard time understanding. I think they are both going to have a hard time understanding, but I am hoping that I am a single and that I am trying to make life better for me and my son, and that I actually enjoy doing this. That is the main thing I am going to tell them that I love doing this. I love sex. I love performing in front of the camera. I think that will help them understand.
Q: How has working in adult Films affected your love life?
Monica: Before this, I did not have a love life for about five months previous to entering this business. That was a funny thing because I started thinking what could I do to make money and I am craving sex, I'm horny, what can I do? And someone kiddingly suggested that I should get into the porn industry. Get fucked and get paid. So it was a joke, and then I started thinking about it. I just got a divorce, so I am not looking for a relationship at this time. It's all about me and my son. And I don't have time to date, so I don't have sex life outside this industry...because I feel like I get enough of it already.
Q: Do you think you'll ever get bored with the sex, or are you already getting bored by it?
Monica: I'm not getting bored. I hope I won't. If I ever noticed that I was getting bored by it, then I'll take a break and do a little less. I just think it's a nice atmosphere and I get excited. Some times I might not be energetic, or in the mood, but when the scene starts, the adrenaline pumps in and you get into it. I hope I am never going to get bored with it.
Q: So where do you see yourself in ten years?
Monica: I want to do this as long as I can. I want to do this at least a couple of years, I want to learn the business, and all aspects of it, and then, maybe work for the studios doing something else. And, of course, build my website and get to know people and do something on my own, whether it's producing or directing...
Q: Do you plan on using that business degree you have?
Monica: Yeah. That's what I feel like I am doing right now. You know why I feel like I am doing it right now?
Q: Tell me.
Monica: I read this book and it said find your best assets...it was all about finding your own strengths. I looked at myself and said, 'People like to see me, men like to see me.' I was feeling I could use my body and my face to produce something someone would actually like to see.
