"My camera pretty much is a paintbrush," says Christopher Makos. The man whom Andy Warhol called the most modern photographer in America joined with his longtime creative partner Paul Solberg. While travelling, they realized that they were interested in the same themes and, as something of a joke, decided to photograph the same things. A well healed seasoned career of Makos colliding with a fresh an instinctual talent of Solberg, an exchange that informed there was something interesting and unusual going on, before it was defined as collaboration.
With cameras in hand, their mutual bike rides turned to car trips and car trips turned into plane rides. Back and forth in cowboy country USA, they went out west. The real US cowboys, the Denver Rodeo, the impressive mountain formations of Colorado: In their candid photos, they capture their view on Americas hostile nature, adorable people, vintage rituals, and rusty vehicles.
